Do any of you have Tivo?

I bought a Tivo back in 1999 when they first came out. I was one of the first 25,000 people in the world to own one. I actually bought it before most celebrities even had one, or even talked about them at all.

I paid somewhere around 500 bucks for the Tivo which included a lifetime membership. Since I have the lifetime membership, I don't pay any kind of additional monthly fee.

I want to buy the newest Tivo model that's out now.

Have any of you replaced an old Tivo with one of the newer models? And do any of you have the lifetime membership?

Never had actual TiVo , but I was amongst the first 2400 people in the country who got Dish DVR 922VIP,:P the best receiver in the world. I can control my DVR from anywhere in the world , record , pause , program. And view anything from my receiver on Any computer or iPhone/iPad

I didn't even know they were still in business. Most people have an HD receiver through their cable company and you can record several shows at a time. Does Tivo just record what's on your TV, Bill? In other words, if you have HD cable channels, does it just record whatever format it's in (HD or regular resolution)? No clue how Tivo works.

I want that so I can watch hockey on my phone maybe in 50 years!!

Yes, Tivo is still in business.

The new Tivo's will record in either HD or standard. My old model only records in standard.
My old model can only record one thing at a time. I think the new Tivo models can record up to 4 different things at a time?
The new Tivo PREMIERE can be hooked up to your computer, and I believe you can watch things like Youtube videos on the TV that it's hooked up to? It also has features that can be used with Netflix.

I never had a Tivo, but I have a Dish satellite DVR for regular recording, and my Blu-Ray player streams about a million things from NetFlix to YouTube, whatever. I'm pretty new to Internet streaming, because I finally got around to upgrading my broadband connection to get a decent speed.

I am fairly sure that it does carry over to the new receiver. Actually, I was hoping that someone on here would be able to verify that for me if they have upgraded at some point.

I'll have to give Tivo a call to find out for sure.
