I read an article written by a guy who used to work for eHarmony and he said the odds of meeting someone compatible through those sites are unfortunately no better than the bar scene. Really the best thing to do is to get involved in clubs or organizations that interest you - that's the best way to meet someone you may have something in common with, but if you don't at least you are spending your time doing things you enjoy. Try to pick at least one that may have some men though! I had the best luck when I was in Jiu-jitsu - I loved training and getting to wrestle with the guys was just a bonus. Most places I've worked at have predominantly female staff and the last two towns I've lived in are not conducive to dating (my current one is actually a retirement community ), so I know how difficult it can be.
