Got my friend count up to 30 today

How the fuck do average joes end up with 500 friends on FB? If you aren't a celebrity or in some type of media enterprise (like the Wombat), how can you feel comfortable with all those people having access to your photos and shit?
I know you can limit their accessibility on a group or individual basis but why even befriend them in the first place if that's going to happen?

your just not trying... LOL... I think depending on age group you are...and how big your HS school class was and your circle of friends are now... that decides how many friends that are either suggested to you or you find... most that are suggested to you from classmates you ignore once you
add them... and its also a status thing to have 500 or so... makes prople feel important in their own right... and maybe just maybe I put too much thought here... just saying...

I've got 429 "friends" on Facebook. I would say somewhere between 60-75 of them are actual friends. Most of the rest are people people I know from church, people I graduated from high school with, etc., quite a few from this forum and a couple of others, and then some who follow my blog. I don't upload very many photos at all, so that doesn't really bother me all that much.

I've got close to 500 friends, I guess the more activities you are involved in over the years, the more the people certainly pop up and realize how many people you actually know. I don't accept people I don't know who haven't come in contact with atleast once or have a good understanding of. It's overrated since I have tons of friends in many places, but I can only count on less then one finger that's actually a good friend nowadays!

I don't see the big deal in the numbers. It's just social networking. I have a little over 550 people on mine, all people I know in some capacity. And after high school, different places I've lived, 2 colleges... And I've had the damn thing for 7 years now. It adds up I guess.

I am at 250 ish...there is not one I don't know in some capacity...work, school, kids parents.

It has actually been a great way to share information.

I am the co-chair for a benefit for one of our soccer mom's who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at 42 she never smoked and it has spread to her brain her sons play soccer with my son one 12 and three twin boys who are 10...it has been really valuable in getting people to the event.

Because life is sad many times, and it's a place you can come for a laugh....even if this time it was laughing at yourself? ;) I know 2 people who passed away within the last month, one 42, one 43. One a girl from high school, I reconnected with on FB, who died from colon cancer that spread to her liver. She had a 10 year old boy. And one a friend of a family members who spent christmas eve with us. He had nursed and watched a loved one die from cancer 3 days before Christmas and then he himself dies 2 weeks later suddenly from an unexpected pulmonary embolism. 43!!! I am 42 and cant imagine. Life just really sucks sometimes. This place is a good escape though....sometimes!!

Thanks. We've known a lot of young death the last couple of years. Definitely a reminder that life is short. You never know and you have to appreciate everyone while you have them.

If your FB news feed seems to have slowed down lately, this might be the reason.
