I haven't watched NASCAR since Earnhardt died. That REALLY tore me up. Was never the same since and still get pretty sad to this day thinking about it. Watching JR never really did anything for me but will be rooting him on this Sunday. Going to be cool seeing the 3 lanes.

I don't hate auto racing but, like S2M, I can think of a lot more interesting things to do than watch cars perpetually turning left. Perhaps they could make it more interesting, like in roller skating where the DJ suddenly says "Everybody reverse skate!"

All I know is it's kinda cool my kids are there tonight taping American flags to 150,000 seats, so people in the stands will have them for the race tomorrow. The raceway is donating $8,000 to our marching band to do the job. Bused them in from Orlando, and fed them. I may watch just for a few minutes, so they can see what their work did!

Opera?

Hmm, yeah, a broadway play may have been a nicer way for them to hear an orchestra!

I watch the race and surf the internet or work on my laptop. My husband has the uncanny ability to watch the first 30 laps or so, fall asleep and wake up with 30 laps to go bolt upright and say "where's Kenseth?"

Never fails.

Us white guys have our own W.E.T. (white entertainment television) like black people have B.E.T. and ours is NASCAR.

Yeah, the don't make 'em like that any more.

O'l Dale was the last of a dying breed. I love NASCAR, but it's gotten way to corporate, & sanitized. I was an Alan Kulwiki fan back in the 80's & 90's. He was from Greenfield WI. I started following him when he raced in the ASA circuit with guys like Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, & Davey Allison. One of the first northern drivers to win a NASCAR championship, Alan was the last owner driver to win. A guy like him could never win a championship today. I was devastated the day he died in that plane crash.

So I assume then that you only watch, polo, sailing & tennis and you drink your tea with your pinkie extended?

I'm extending one of my fingers right now. Can you guess which one?
