Huge earthquake in Japan an hour ago. CNN is showing film of a tsunami that's already hit their coastline. The entire Pacific Rim is under either a tsunami watch or warning. Trying to get in touch with my friend in Tokyo to see if she's ok.

It's so awful to see the people in the cars not even knowing which way to drive to get away from the speeding water...just praying for them. :(

They're saying that Hawaii also had an earthquake this morning  wow! I guess their earthquakes are small and more related to a volcano. I hope that with all the warnings going on, that everyone will be okay in all the affected places.

No, I mean everyone, INCLUDING the people on MR ;) I care about all people! :) My daughter is supposed to go to Hawaii for 2 weeks in the summer with my brother and his family, but I wonder if this will spook them now.

This footage just shows you the force of a tsunami. Just to see cars driving on a road as it approaches. Unbelievable:(

There are now signs that the tsunami is getting ready to strike Hawaii...The water is receding from shore there.

Can't say I blame Mother Natures madness here, we've been hitting her hard for years.
It's only a matter of time before she hurls back.
So sad this is to see.....my heart is hurting hugely for those human beings.

On Facebook 3 hours ago...They were in Tokyo

Dom and I are currently fine in middle Japan. We took a day trip to see some snow monkeys and were on the train back when the earthquake hit. We`re now stuck in Sakudaira where we were lucky to get a hotel for the night. No one here speaks English so you guys probably know what`s happening better than we do. Any updates are appreciated!

I will pray for their safety Sir, thank you for sharing your scare with us.

Its weird how you hear about places where you know that MR friends (or whatever other remote friends) live and you immediately think of it and have to check... I read about the Tsunami warning for Hawaii and right away I checked Twitter hoping to see a tweet from MT so we'd know he was ok... no tweet, but I usually only notice tweets from him later on in the evening anyway... I hope EVERYONE is ok... I read that the Pacific Coast either is or was under watch too... (sorry, I'm only just seeing all this now, I didn't have the tv news on this morning) ... You Pacificers be safe and check in!

Fact Finder, I'm glad to read that your daughter and SIL are ok. :)

This is horrible news, and I hope for the best for them.I can't even imagine... We have a friend named Saichiko there too, who flew in from Japan to see the Vegas show. It was her 20th Journey show in 30 years of being a fan. Really cool person., and I hope she is ok.

This is a terrible, tragic disaster but I wish the media would stop with their apocalyptic fear driven reporting. They're only making it worse.

Theyre just reporting what is happening live,,, while its sad to see lives lost, nothing wrong with the technology to allow us follow this as it happens. You always have the option of changing back to SpongeBob :P

My friend in Tokyo is ok. She said that the city is gridlocked and that very few trains are running. She said there have been many aftershocks, and that some of them have been pretty strong. Hope the people on the West coast heed the warnings and stay away from the beaches.
