I'm unable to get onto the Noticeboard on the main site..........so I'm starting a thread here for anyone else that's having problems in that respect.

It's a strange feeling, not being able to just log straight onto the Noticeboard. What am I going to babbble about, now that there's no forum for my drivel?

The decade old board ...has been heavily spammed in recent times, leaving it vulnerable to hackers and only last week was hijacked to send out spam e-mail across an old admin e-mail account.

So, with one page of history closing, it is time to start a new chapter. A replacement board is in development and will be launched officially on Monday. This new board will add many new features that users have requested over the years and throw in a few brand new options that should impress and help folks get over the loss of the old board (may it rest in peace).

Stay tuned for updates.

It'll be back up on Monday, apparently. Updated and improved. Until then I guess I'll have to just haunt this place...........

Shame - wanted to hear feedback on Drew's Eclipse review.

Maybe it's just me but what did the Noticeboard offer that couldn't be done here on this board?

Will there be a lot of refugees? Can this board handle that kind of traffic?

I wondered the same thing. It'd be a pretty crazy forum if all the Noticeboard peoples participated here instead.

I say bring 'em over. We could use some new blood. Pretty boring over here IMO.

We, the Noticeboard users, view the forums over here with humorous incredulity. I think I can take the liberty of speaking for them........another thing is that there would seem to be far more non US posters there than there are here. That's just an observation, not an accusation.

There are some posters here that I know from way back [ I was bladesedge on the Journey official forums and then the Water Cooler] and it still seems to be Journey that counts for the majority of traffic here. Again, just an observation....

Yeah, this board is a totally different animal and I rather prefer the separation of the two. I'm looking forward to the new board and the return of all my peeps! Coco's one of the testers, so hopefully he gives the new board a good workout, so it will stand up to the challenge.

probably more of the fact that this board didn't even exist when I started posting over there, and never really looked for it after it appeared. Went to the site, looked at reviews, looked at the noticeboard. Plenty of pages there that I never checked.

Personally speaking I rarely, as in almost never, go to the actual front page of the site. I guess it's just the habit you become accustomed to.

Personally, I was reading just the front page YEARS before I noticed the message board, and years still before I noticed the notice board. In fact, a member here pointed out to me it's existence, and told me to keep it on the down low because he/she didn't want an influx of this board going to that board. I've been over there roughly 100 times since then, never posted. There is a majority of international posters over there, and it's more music informational-based than here. There doesn't seem to be as many friendships over there. Well, not exactly NO friendships, but more of an aquaintance/comraderie about certain bands kind of thing. Over there you had topics about groups you would never read about here: Magnum, Ten, Thunder, Storyteller...etc. an EXTREMELY more rounded music fan, if you will. The format/style of the board was like the old Compuserve bulletin boards. I felt out of place there, although I knew all the bands they were speaking of - it just seemed to antiseptic for my tastes...and the fact that they wanted it kept quiet rubbed me the wrong way.....

Well.... THIS board will exist when the NEW board is created..... so will WE become the second board to kind of be here by ourselves? Trying to be significant? While others find that new board and get it going? Will some of us be kicked off the new board, if we try to bring this kind of thing we have here, there? I wonder...

I think more than anything, these forums are populated by, predominantly, US-based Journey fans. The noticeboard is populated by a bit more international (read: Europe) melodic rock fans. Plenty of those over there that don't even like Journey. Just a different crowd, but there are some benefits. Don't think we're likely to have many Magnum/Ten/Thunder threads over here, even though I wouldn't be opposed to them!

Nevertheless, that's what I was told. And I don't think many non-noticeboard people knew about it.
