SA Iron Maiden concert cancelled due to fans

Looks like South American fans can get pretty excited at times. Reminiscent of some of the 80's concerts here in the states. BTW: This is translated from Spanish or maybe Portuguse by Google so....

The Iron Maiden concert, which happened on Sunday (27th) at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, was canceled. During the execution of the first song, Satellite 15 ... The Final Frontier , the fence that separated the stage from the audience by about a meter and a half did not endure the pushing of the public and fell.

The band's lead singer, Bruce Dickinson noticed the movement of public and urged calm the crowd, "Hey guys, please calm, everyone takes a step backward. The fence came down and is dangerous. We do not want anyone to get hurt." Like its English words had little effect, he ventured into Portuguese. "Calm." Nothing. The crowd remained excited about the presence of the Iron on stage.

The band then stopped playing and Dickinson explained that back in ten minutes, so the fence was repaired. The audience waited, but after 20 minutes, the boos began to be high and the public seemed to lose patience. Dickinson returned to the stage, however, to break the bad news: "The fence is completely broken. We do not want anyone to get hurt," he said.

Dickinson told the crowd that Iron Maiden will play at HSBC Arena at the same time on Monday the 28th, and that the fans just take the bracelet which gives access to the show. "Today, we can not play, but tomorrow, at the same time, we'll be here. Everyone who has a ticket or bracelet will be able to enter. Who can not come, we'll find a way to repay."

The audience responded with boos and outrage. the singer made one last attempt to calm things down, "told us that there is no security. There's no way it be ready today. I know it sucks. But please, do not break anything when they leave. Who can not come, among the official website of our band we find a way to repay. I'm really upset. to assure you that tomorrow will have the best fence in the world, "said the singer.

Dickson left the stage when there were more boos. People threw cups on the stage. Some kicked the fence broken. Fan of the band, Delio Fernandez, 28, was frustrated by the cancellation. But he said come back tomorrow. "There's no organization, it is a shame," he protested.

The disorganization and lack of infrastructure was not in keeping with the British band's punctuality. When Iron began playing at 21:30, much of the audience was still locked in the queue that stretched to the outside of HSBC Arena. The access roads were not up too much of a car that was moving sluggishly hours before presentation.

Mondo Entertainment, responsible for the event, has not officially commented on the incident. According to the spokesperson for the company, the organizers are meeting to prepare for tomorrow's show.

FYI, the fans were not responsible for the fence's damage. The local organization had sold more tickets than the capacity of the vip sector.

I was there yesterday and I'm going exactly this moment to the show...

I don't care what you think about the Maiden fans...

UP THE IRONS!!!

The Google translator makes Dickinson's comments to audience to sound like Pineda's interactions with Journey fans

Hey now, my son who is 15, think Maiden are right up there with Megadeth with GOD-like attributes. Maiden is going to be down here this summer in Miami and

all I've been hearing about is going. I do my best just to ignore it. Now, I'm not knocking what he likes and while not a fan of Maiden I can appreciate what they

have done & Dickinson does have some pipe's (if you can understand them over the screaming ass, loud as jet guitars blaring away). But, having went to see

Anthrax, Megadeth & fucking Slayer with him & his friends, I'm not, in no way, even if hell freezes over get myself put into a situation like the one at that concert.

And from seeing video's and this thread, that's what it would be like, I'm fucking sure of it & it won't happen again in my lifetime. Until he's old enough & pays for

it himself, were gonna stay as far away from the convicts, gang lords, hell's angels, the outfuckinglaws, & the aryan nation for fucking ever! :D

This is why international music fans are 1000x more educated about music than americans....sometimes I'm embarrassed to be an american. When Katy Perry and Lady Gag are packing 'em in here, and Brazil is selling out for Journey and Maiden - there's you EFFIN' proof.
