8 year old peppered sprayed by cops while throwing a temper tantrum at school. Granted he was wielding a sharp piece of wood, but I can't believe there wasn't some other way of resolving this. At least it wasn't a taser. Rubber bullets maybe. (just kidding)

Good. Fuck that little brat. Police officers aren't baby sitters and they always get the short end of the YouTube stick once the media gets their hands on the clip. This was a great hands off solution.

I saw this kid and his mother on Today yesterday, sounded to me like the little bastard deserved it.

Then you'd have the "You don't ever put your hands on a child!" crowd screaming and complaining. This solution was perfect. But I do get your point. Unfortunately, though, police officers have had their credibility unjustly taken away by the media, and I think decisions like this are part of them policing out of fear of being fired and/or sued.

Could not agree more.

I don't know. I am definately not against "corporal punishment", and it seems to me a good spanking followed by a long grounding (no TV, no Video games, no outside playing, no trips, no nothing) and further spankings as necessary might have been enough here. You know I don't know the specfic details in this case, but I am pretty sure the kid was not holding another student or the teacher by the neck with the sharp piece of wood milimeters from the jugular.

But I can appreciate the police dilemma, damned if you physically grab and roughly subdue the child, damned if you use the pepper spray, etc. If it were me, I just would have gone with the old fashioned physical route.

Maybe the kid does have demons, but it's the parents that need to be held accountable.

are beyond the control of his parents ...all three should be ashamed!!
