In 2007, Fender launched the EVH line of guitars. The official launch event featured the top brass from Fender, industry dignitaries, the press and of course Eddie kicking it all off with the unveiling of his signature "Frankenstein" model. He showed up to the event drunk and looking like shit at what is supposed to be a prestigious event. He rambles on and on, smoking like a chimney the entire time. First time I watched it I just cringed. It was right after this appearance that he finally got serious about getting clean and sober.

EVH definitely changed the rock guitar landscape and deserves his place as a guitar hero. But to my ears, I enjoy his rhythm playing much more than his solos. Solo-wise, he hasn't had anything new to say in a long time.

That's another reason why I'm such a fan of Schon - as fans, we get new music from him in a variety of genres all the time.

Ed went through some lonely nights when he lost Valerie, so he just tried to drink himself to death. It didn't work, and now we have an Eddie with an alcohol-saturated brain. Deal with it.
