Caricatures for the summer

PostPosted: Sun Apr 17, 2011 2:36 am

If anyone wants a Caricature done for the summer, PM me or place photo on this thread. I am going to be out of school in about 5-6 weeks, and I want to get some to work on to hone my skills in that area more. I am not selling them on here, and they are free, but if you want to make a donation, make it to Andrew to help him keep up this fun site.

Things to remember..........

A good photo
Something about the subject .......likes, hobbies, etc.......
:D

Great idea, Ginger. I now live in Missouri and would like to know if you'd accept a picture of me naked, surrounded by farm animals. Don't ask any questions either. Let's just say that the local customs are taking a little getting used to.

Fun factoid from an art historian tour guide at the Vatican Museum in Rome a couple of years ago. The Vatican Museum has an incredible collection of statuary from all over the world (apparantely early Popes were quite the collectors). Viewpoints about whether or not to display male human statues in all their naked glory have shifted over the years... at one point the curators were instructed to attache fig leaves to the guy parts on the statues. Then the sensibilities shifted again, and the curators were instucted to remove them. Unfortunately, quite a few of the important parts came off with the fig leaves. No one could decide what to do with them, so ... somewhere deep in the storage rooms of the Vatican Museum lies a drawer full of penises.

This topic got interesting quick! LOL! That is hysterical!

Did you know the cardinals who first saw the Sistine Chapel ceiling proclaimed it Obscene! Michelangelo said he would not change it, Pope Julius upheld Michelangelo's stance on it, and the nudes remained.

The statue of David is 14 feet tall, so how endowed is David? That might be the question.

There was a time period where nudes were accepted in the Renaissance period, until a very strict monk declared it sacrilege and had the Medici family thrown out. Then he proceed to make people burn their paintings, books, and jewelry. Women who wore makeup once this monk took over, were punished as harlots. Keep in mind under the Medici's (Lorenzo the Magnificent), that knowledge, art, music, philosophy, science and many other schools thrived. Art was power in the Renaissance. He who could purchase art was considered a powerful patron.
