...insist on Edited editions of CD titles with swearing on them, but they sell DVD/Blu-Ray movies all day with loads of swearing in them? (Many times for less than what CDs cost)

I can only assume is has something to do with being a Christian organization, and the whole family friendly thing, but yes, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Though it's always been much more common to find edited versions of music than movies. I don't recall ever seeing the "unrated" cuts of movies sold at Walmart though.

Admittedly, I don't know that much about the process and what is offered to retailers from music and movie distributors, but I have to figure it depends on what is available to the retailers as to what they will carry. They can't simply not carry movies, and you don't find edited down movies the way they do with music, so I think they simply carry what does not have the "bad stuff" where they can and the rest is out of their hands. It's also probably easier for a corporation that size to say they won't carry a CD unless it contains the radio edits, etc. Of course the labels will do it because it's a cheap enough fix and they want that product on the shelves. You can't really do that with movies as easily. Movie distributors get around it with DVD only "unrated" discs, which again, I don't recall seeing at walmart (but I really don't shop there, so I could easily be wrong), so they can simply choose to carry the MPAA approved theatrical versions.

Speaking of Wal-Mart, here's an interesting article that shows that could easily pay their associates $12 an hour without losing too much money. Kinda makes you wonder....

I wish! Walmart is so cheap, that we're not allowed even one minute overtime or we get written up. Even the part-timers can't work a minute over their projected hours for the week :?

No, but I know people that work at our local evil empire and they'll clock out at the end of their shift and before they can get out the door, they'll get roped into doing a little extra labor without being allowed to clock back in...

They would be required to fill out a time sheet for the extra time they worked "off the clock," Walmart has been sued for that in the past and now we have to credit that time so we get paid for it :?
