This is what Religion does to people. The NFL needs to step in immediately and completley BAN these athletes from their social media bullshit and ramblings. Athletes have too much power these days and can't keep their damn mouth shut. What a moronic human being & American to make such comments out in the public like that. Dumbass.

Professional athletes only have power because we treat them like gods.
Ignore them and they'll go away.

People should only be allowed to change their name when they go to prison.

Fact Finder wrote:Rashard Mendenhall`s controversial Twitter comments this week about the death of Osama bin Laden has cost him an endorsement deal.

Champion, an athletic apparel manufacturer, severed ties Thursday with the Steelers running back.

"Champion is a strong supporter of the government`s efforts to fight terrorism and is very appreciative of the dedication and commitment of the U.S. Armed Forces," Champion said in a prepared statement. "Earlier this week, Rashard Mendenhall, who endorses Champion products, expressed personal comments and opinions regarding Osama bin Laden and the September 11 terrorist attacks that were inconsistent with the values of the Champion brand and with which we strongly disagreed.

"While we respect Mr. Mendenhall`s right to express sincere thoughts regarding potentially controversial topics, we no longer believe that Mr. Mendenhall can appropriately represent Champion and we have notified Mr. Mendenhall that we are ending our business relationship. Champion has appreciated its association with Mr. Mendenhall during his early professional football career and found him to be a dedicated and conscientious young athlete. We sincerely wish him all the best."

Excellent news. Thanks for posting this.

Now this is a nice start. The NFL or whatever governing body should never make rules or bans against free speech like this that has nothing to do with the sport. Let public outcry teach this moron a lesson, a lesson about personal responsibility. He shot his mouth off, and now he's paying the price. The next step should be for everyone to un-twitter him. That won't change his views, and it shouldn't. But it will teach him a lesson in personal responsibility.
