UPDATED: A preview of my upcoming album

Postby MichaelRiesenbeck » Sun May 08, 2011 1:50 am

After the first rough mix I've posted here and the feedback the kind people here gave me I've revisited an older mix with regards to the vocal mix.

Here is a totally new mix with the vocals back to where they were as well :-)

I really like the dynamics of this forum, it's nice and very helpful to sculp the sound with your input.

It's so nice to finally am mixing my second album after working on it for 6 years. It's almost 8 years after my debut album, so it's about time!

Sounds good Michael! I'm glad to see you're making some progress on it. I'll definitely be anxious to hear what the guys have come up with on these songs. When are you planning to release it?

Thanks Jim,

I'm not really tied to a deadline, but I would like to have it released by the end of the year.

First we'll have to do another drum recording session in which one of the songs we'll track is the one you play on.

Cheers,

Michael

Michael, for some reason I have this snippet on my computer twice CITN-clip and CITN-clip2. Just had a listen to both and not sure when you posted the first one before, but I was just about to come on and say that I listened to it 3 times and REALLY like the song.....but the lead vocal IMO was missing some power/punch. But had another listen to the one that was already on my comp before and the lead vocal mix is much better on that one for some reason?

Hi Deb,

Interesting. I posted the same clip a few months ago which then still had the demo drums on it (drummachine). This new one is with the final real drums. Bt it;s interesting that you like the first vocal production better. The actual vocal parts have not changed, so I'll go back and revisit that first clip to se what's different. Thanks for the input, I will check that out!

Cheers,

Michael

I don't know anything about production/mix or anything. Might just be me, LOL maybe I was born with an extra ear sensor when it comes to vocals. But to me the vocals seem louder or more forward in the mix on your first one. Now that you mention the drums are the difference, will have another listen to both tonight? Either way, I really like the song/music though.

I agree. Seems like there's not much energy really throwing it at us. The vocals just sound half asleep.
Overall, it's a good song, and the drums definitely sound better on this clip.

Well done! I really enjoyed that. I realize you don't know me from Adam but I just wanted to let you know that it impressed this fellow musician in PHX, Arizona. Great production quality and super job on the mixing of the instruments. Nothing is drowning out anything else yet all the channels are clear. Liked it a lot!
