 Eric's voice is almost totally gone half way through..... (even chugging water). Too bad he/they couldn't wear masks like some of the crowd. Troopers......show must go on. :D Hope E's vocals recover for those of you going to M3 in Maryland next weekend!

Billy Sheehan's Facebook........ "In Beijing, China last night--15,000 people singing all the Mr Big lyrics. Very nice! Had a great time, except for the sandstorm."

Yeah, that song TBWY is usually near the end or during the encore, so I can't imagine garggling a fine mist of sand for 2 hours would be at all good for the pipes. And they were probably getting it worse than the crowd being up on stage in the open. :?

I believe that is where you cut the set short or do something so as to not damage the vocal cords. What surprises me is that he kept trying to go for the notes when it was obvious his voice was gone.

His voice may have been fine for most of the show, but the blowing sand probably got the best of him by the end of it. But yeah, he probably figured if their fans were there sandstorm and all......until the end, so were they. That's my boys! 8) :) Just like JSS fighting a cold/sick but still put on a great show for his Madrid concert/dvd. They never fail to make me feel proud to support the bestests! Image

There's a difference between fighting through a cold and literally having no voice left. I've seen shows where the voice completely went like the last Augeri show, and the oft-posted video was the GOOD part of the show. When it gets to the point of no voice at all, it's no fun for anyone--not the band nor the audience. You are better off either getting another band member to help with the vocals to get through the songs (if possible), or just cutting the show short. You do yourself no favors trying to keep going at that point.

That one is usually part of the encore, so it may very well have been the last song. I can't imagine he would have been able to do another after that? Either way, in that clip the crowd sure didn't look too dissappointed.

But no worries, NO damage done. :D He was back to full voice last night in Seoul! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=De_EaOD8VYg

You and Debbie have a BLAST this weekend, Pam! Have never seen Whitesnake or Tesla, but I know MB are going to kick your ass live. Would love to hear how Whitesnake and Tesla are sounding these days too!

Sounds pretty good there, when is that from? Curious as to how Jeff Keith is sounding these days too. Another favorite raspy rocker. Small world, Tesla's drummer started out in the Eric Martin Band way back in the day. (yellow shorts dude)

That's Troy Lucketta! Gotta luv those 80's shorts! Almost as bad as the spandex!!

I've seen both Whitesnake & Telsa several times but not in quite a few years. It will be great to see them again. Never having seen Mr. Big live, they will be a treat, I'm sure! Of course I've seen EM, Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan in seperate bands, but never together. I've seen most of the bands on the bill in one form or another but this lineup is killer! Gonna be an AWESOME 2 days! 8)

Regarding cutting the set short, if they're a 1/4 of the way through the show, they can't really do that. Sometimes you can blow the crap out of your chords- not hurt them, but actually blow what's irritating them out of the throat, believe it or not. Maybe he was hoping for that. There's always that "Show must go on" mentality too. Notice that the crowd doesn't seem to care. What's the deal with the 1975 headphones??? Great look - NOT.
Other than the comment from the bassist, is there a reason you think the voice is bad from the sandstorm and not something else? Just asking, I don't know these guys at all.

Also from other posts on FB about the sandstorm, and the fact that his vocals were fine the shows right before and right after that one.
