Lady Gaga's New Single - an '80s Power Ballad

Postby Jana » Tue May 10, 2011 11:35 am

Lady Gaga's newest single, Edge of Glory, is reminescent of the '80s, a power ballad, with Clarence from the E Street Band on sax. I like it, but something is missing by the end, not enough something. All in all, very catchy. At least, she's not auto-tuned like a lot of her other stuff.

It is good dance music, just like Born This Way ...I hear
the auto~tune in that, as well, but I like it!! There were parts
of BTW that were reminiscent of Madonna's VOGUE!!
Not crazy about this!!

Yep... some subtle AutoTune...

Autotune is also used as an effect in pop music these days.. as well as a tool to correct pitchiness...

For Divas engineers have to use "AutoTUDE"... this of course is used to correct bitchiness..

That's how I feel too. People these days ignore good music and buy crap. These marketing people know
that they can make anyone sell if they apply the money in the right places. All you have to be is controversial.
Maybe one of the Journey members need to take one for the team and get pasted all over the tabloids,
then their music would sell like hot cakes.

@@ :?: You all need to do a little homework. Here's a link.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Gaga There is also a pretty good MTV Special called Inside The Outside .. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1664717/lady-gaga-justin-trantor-loyatly.jhtml

I know that most of you are going on what you think she is,but really do some reading and listening and then judge. I realize that testosterone Rock is really what this place is all about but seriously, just think outside the box for a little while.

That's ok, tastes and mileage may vary  I guess that the whole allusion to being a washed up country singer was what pushed my buttons.

Sounds to me you're a bit jealous of this woman's success. Don't hate on her because she sells sells and sells. Perhaps some acts in your preferred genre should actually put something good out instead of crap like Nelson or Far Cry or some shit like that. Look, some of your bands on here are very good, but a lot more are pure shit cheese.

Gaga is just doing what she is supposed to do. Don't hate on her out of jealousy.

No not at all. My point was I don't care if she is a dude, woman, tranny, whatever. Pop music is a very very liberal entertainment form. I could care less what she has going on down there. She has catchy as fuck songs...that is the ojective yes?

I think Lady Gaga is just like the rest of music today. It's more about the shock factor or looks than being talented. While she may very well be talented, I'll never know it because I don't care for this freaky shit that's permeating everything from music to tv and movies. They camouflage the lack of talent with the freak show.

I would listen to Lyle Lovett's ugly ass every day over the shit that's put out today, because that man has great talent.

Rick... she is very talented. Has been playing piano since she was a kid, taken lessons, studied music comp, songwriting etc. etc. I suppose you don't like P!NK either? I do not get how folks get so musically set in their ways. Tunnel vision? Somebody 'splain it to me... Is it an aversion to Chick artists?
