Don't forget about "Separate Ways", and well... pretty much every video Journey ever put out (except Trial By Fire). :D

After the Fall is hilarious...that scene with the four guys arguing with Perry on the table deserves an Oscar...

how about almost everything done by Frontiers Records? WET, John Waite, Unruly Child, the list goes on and on. Pretty much a cliche list of how NOT to make a music video.

I haven't seen the other two, but I disagree on the WET vids, Kev. Quite like the Brothers In Arms video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZZe9oEZ ... re=related

I love band footage videos, I enjoy them much more than any of those fruity storyline ones. They're musicians, not actors, and that's what I want to see in a music video..........either live playing or band comraderie footage. I like Comes Down Like Rain vid too.

All I can say is thank gawd for Wayne Isham. He introduced / drected so many of those live videos that started coming out in the 80s. Bon Jovi, Def Lepard, Motley Crue, Metallica, etc. http://www.mvdbase.com/tech.php?last=Isham&first=Wayne

He was the one who directed IMO Journey's best video. When You Love A Woman and the ROR Documentary.

I don't care for the fruity storyline videos (and there are plenty of those out there also), but the editing is atrocious on the Frontiers videos. One Love is early 80s graphics gone haywire. Brothers in Arms is what can we do with a green screen (speeding JSS, flying JSS, apocalyptic JSS, etc), and don't get me started on some of the speed-up effects used on Comes Down Like Rain, and the fuzzy vhf/analog signal effect that appears a few times.

All three videos are like you gave someone an editing suite for Christmas and let them play with it. Some of the editing choices for scenes are downright bizarre and can only be explained by randomly picking a shot to go here because there is a 3 second gap, and forget any linear concept to try and tie things together. Maybe I'm jaded because I have some experience in editing videos, but these videos are amateurish at best and downright embarrassing at worst.

There are a couple of Phil Collins videos that are really good....Don't Lose My Number (which is a great parody) Something Happened on the Way to Heaven (the dog), Take Me Home (tour of famous landmarks). Genesis had some good ones also. Some people just knew how to use the video medium better than others.

Sledge Hammer to name one! I was also a sucker and fan for a bunch of the 80's Kiss videos. I always loved "Tears Are Falling", and "Heaven's On Fire". :D

But, on a budget of $12, you gotta admit they are pretty decent. You aren't going to get any better anytme soon...

According to the title at least, this is the worst video ever made. And I might toss in "Worst Song", too!

I still think you could get some fresh-faced person out of film school and improve the quality. Something that resembles a coherently shot video and someone that knows how to edit video shouldn't be impossible to find...even on a $12 budget.

Speaking thereof, the Mr. Big Undertow video was a considerable improvement. I wonder if that was a Frontiers Video project or if the Japanese contract allowed them to do a bigger budget to hire someone to direct. Either way, that one was pretty classy as far as music videos go.

Undertow was directed by Vicente and Fernando Cordero (brothers) ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ2rRXtwVwQ

That's exactly what I want in a music video. Straight up, band performing, lookin' sharp. Good gawd I love Paul's guitar sound & solo in that video, the whole vid is just one big eargasm.

As far as songs go, it's ass, but I have heard worse.

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH!!!!!!!!!! Is that the same band, or another one? Love the hammer!!!!

From THOR's latest release: Devastation of Musculation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnLEYlzYCxo

I'm confused... is that singer the same as before? Flashbacks in this video that kinda indicate he's the same as that blond He-Man clone from the old vids.

I so agree w/this ...and straight up performing had to be more cost effective!!
Perhaps MTV thought kids/teens were idiots and had to be spoon fed a songs meaning/feel/interpretation?!? Or perhaps they thought we had the attention
span of monkeys and the only way to get us to watch was to create a story/mini
movie?!?!
SP, and I'm sure many other artists, had it right when he/they said an individual should
be able to form their own interpretation of a song.

WYLAW is my favorite vid of all time, absolutely beautiful!!
