What's the story behind this? Have they reunited? When was the last time Pink Floyd played together as a group? I pretty much think they suck, but I do like Have A Cigar, and can respect the fact that they put their differences aside ... if that's what happened.

They unite for charity shows mostly. They got the whole band together for live8 a few years back but other than that, if one has a charity he wants to support he calls the other and they try to make it happen. Gilmour doesn't want to tour as Floyd anymore; Roger has had a good run with his WALL shows so really a reunion tour isn't really a 'must', especially now that Rick Wright has passed away.
This get together was David paying back a favor to Roger for attending and performing at one of his charity gigs last year.
I know the remaining members have a new agreement with EMI where all their stuff is going to be pushed digitally and finally Blu-rays of their shows will be made available. They are one of the few acts that haven't had a major catalog overhaul over the years like most artists so a lot their fans will probably take this opportunity to update all the old CDs and video tapes to the new stuff. Floyd has never 'emptied the vault', so to speak so there is a lot of unheard material that will be probably surface now also. They don't need the money, I think it's more of the realization after Wright's death that their career as a band is in its last moments of twilight so why not get everything out there before it's over.

Thanks, WD. That Gilmour dude seems fucking weird, so I could see him not wanting to tour. I think they should do one final huge world tour. Hell, I'd probably go.

I have never seen them perform together. I saw Gilmour led Floyd in '94 at the Oakland Coliseum and I got to see Roger on his Wall tour at Staples. I would love to see them have one more tour, just stadiums only would be fine. Roger wants it, maybe David will give in eventually.
They really had some bad blood between them, with Roger even calling promoters to try and block bookings for Gilmour's Floyd tour but it's all water under the bridge now. I think Pink Floyd having one more run is actually more likely than Perry ever getting on the stage with Journey again, that's for sure.

If it happened it would no doubt be the biggest tour of the year and I'll pay top dollar for front row!

I like three Pink Floyd albums,'73-Dark Side Of The Moon,'75-Wish You Were Here,'79-The Wall.Always thought they had some good songs here and there but besides those three albums i've never heard the deeper stuff.Forgot about the reunion album in '94 The Division Bell and remember that being huge at the time.Like a few songs like Hey You,Have A Cigar,Money,Time,etc....

"Run Like Hell" is the most overplayed, clichéd PF tune now. I avoid it like the plague.
Pink Floyd secured their place in rock history long ago, but damn, they're overrated. They're mislabelled "prog rock" when they're really a glorified psych-blues band. Yes, they have some great songs in "One Of These Days," "Have A Cigar," "Welcome To The Machine," "Young Lust" and "Comfortably Numb," but when you remember that "Comfortably Numb" was originally supposed to be on David Gilmour's first solo album, it reminds me again why I spin that disc and never any of PF's anymore.

I love David Gilmour's album "About Face" I saw Pink Floyd in 87 and it rocked! Too bad it was in the kingdome.

Excellent song - probably the only PF song I
really like. Still have Meddle kicking around on vinyl somewhere.

Looking at the Amazon download charts, Money, the Great Gig In The Sky, Us And Them, and Sorrow appear to be the current favorites.

Waters & Gilmour write great lyrics, great arrangements. One of the top 5 bands of all time. In fact on this rainy sunday morning, I'm gonna put on The Wall and drift away!
