.......was quite a star-studded 2 hours. Packed with big name performances, was like watching an award show without all the awards in between. No spoilers until it's been on in the different time zones. :P

Thoughts? Good or bad?

Wow. An Alberta girl watching a manufactured bullshit phony music award, over a thrilling NHL Eastern Conference final game, which was fucking epic. You should be made to move to Mexico, as punishment. Go live in that toilet and rethink your goddamned priorities. I am sending you some more emails tonight! :(

Fuck American Idol, all it is is one big popularity contest, talent really doesn't really mean anything on that show.

That show is ALL about selling advertising spots, and making ducats from people texting votes.

I don't even care who won. Was cool to see the performances...........Beyonce, Lada Gaga, Judas Priest, Tim McGraw, Tom Jones, Mark Anthony, Carrie Underwood, Bono & Edge, Tony Bennett, Jack Black  , Gladys Knight, Stephen Tyler singing Dream On (WTH? thought Aerosmith was supposed to be performing on the finale?)

LOL sorry to shatter that Alberta stereotype there Dean. But for me, music ALWAYS comes before sports. Hell I'd rather be watching my sig, than the eastern conference. Extremely biased here, it it ain't a western Can team playing, not much in the caring department. :P

That is honestly surprising, usually pop culture avoids metal like the plague. (which is why I hate pop so much, along with the fact the none of it is real music)

LOL. I thought that that Mark, Jennifer, Shiela E performance was pretty good. Didn't much care for the song, but i love that latin music, it's such a body music. Mark's a better singer than that, didn't think he sounded that great on there. Always liked this one of his though........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNrEVmsn-yo

Truth be told, I'm sure that there zillions of closet AI watchers out there. Anyone who denies it, it's their loss. Just to watch a 17 year old singer become a household name, on his own merit, almost overnight, was worth any and all of AI's commercials.

Be honest everyone, don't you think it's time Tony Bennett and Tom Jones retired?

Their voices are no longer good to hear.

They have earned the right to do what they love and the vast majority of their fans still love them. You would obviously not want Steve Perry to give it another try, right?

I thought that they sounded great. Tony Bennett sang the SSB at a game series game last year and he was amazing. I thought that both singers looked wonderful and sounded great.

No.
If Steve Perry's voice has gone I would NOT want to hear him sing now.

And I think Tom and Tony should retire. Their voices are past their best.

Liza Minnelli is another. And Andy Williams.
I believe when the voice is gone, the singer should retire.
