I just finished online traffic school - while i'm gratetful for the opportunity to avoid reporting the infraction to my insurance co., I have to genuinely say, without question, what an overall load of bullshit...like I or anyone needs to know that 90% of DUI recipients are likely to get another DUI within their lifetime, or that 2% of fatal accidents involve bicyclists or that 150,000 motorists are ticketed for texting and masturbating at the same time...errr uhh....anway!! what a load of shit...yeah, I just passed the fucker, and got one question wrong : - "True / False: New safety features added to vehicles will have no effect on their resale value, but they will increase the purchase prices of the vehicles." - The answer's fucking FALSE, but god knows what they are thinking when they ask a question like that...(I know what they're thinking, they're thinking: "Good luck with that question based on the reading material asshole...Go Fuck yourself you insurance rate increase dodging speeding no radar detecting having cheap skate!!!")

It was a bullshit ticket too, coming into Oprah's turf (Santa Barbara) on my way back to San Luis Obispo from an all-night party that early morning after 2.5 hours of sleep...some fucking douche bag cop who just wrapped up writing up another 'speeder', fucker drags onto me..I was like 'Seriously? I see you with your fucking detector, I'm going the speed of traffic and I pull into the fast lane to get past a sub speed limit shit bag...I wasn't going but much more than 73 MPH...the guy told me he was giving me one of the 'lessor / lowest' rated tickets, saying I was just over the posted speed limit 65 MPH...I thought that was at least one small concilatory reward - and then I saw the ticket in the mail with traffic school over $300...As for Traffic School, I finally got it all done...no speeding tickets for 12 months (or 18 months I can't remember)...what a load of cocka-doodie bullshit...what a waste of an after-work evening...at least I was drunk and high while taking the test...

p.s. the name of this forum is called Bitch & Moan right? I can't complain about this shit on fb...lol, thought I would share

If you're in your 30s, then grow up for crying out loud. No one should be bitching about a speeding ticket if they were, in fact, GOING OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. Deal with it.

If I got a ticket every time I was speeding, I'd never get where I'm going because I'd constantly be pulled over to the side of the road. That's why I never bitch when I actually get one. (knock on wood). I just do deferred and move on with my life. No big deal.

73 in a 65 zone is a bit much...Most officers would give you 7 or 8 mph over the limit, especially if the rest of the traffic is moving that speed. That being said, I've NEVER gotten just a warning. I've been pulled over 4 times and gotten a ticket each time. Each time I've been extremely courteous and cooperative and ne'er a warning have I received.

Actually, most officers give you 10, some 15, on the highway that is. There is always that little stickler cop who will go less though. Could be he just saw you speeding up to pass the other car, and saw you as aggressive, and your speed being over, was enough for him to want to stop you. Just a guess though.

I should have preceded my rant with "In keeping with the spirit of the forum's title..." guess that wasn't obvious -

As for the cop - he seemed like a nice enough guy, but when asked for my license and registration, I didn't have it on my person (They were in the trunk in my backpack where I put everything from the night before because my car was parked outside, and after living in Sacramento for about a year, I'm hesitant to leave anything in the car (it's been broken into 3 times since moving up North), in any event, I figure once he had to run my license plate to confirm I owned the car and there were no reports of theft or anything suspect, he had to write me up (I mean he went to all the trouble in pulling me over...)

i live in Memphis and had to drive a couple hundred miles to Nashville a few months back.a couple weeks ago i received a letter postmarked from Arizona to tell me that i was caught in Christmasville,Tennessee on a mounted camera going 72 in a 65 and i could pay my 100 dollar fine right now by credit card by simply calling the 1-800 number or i could go to Arizona where the camera company is based and look at the film and try and contest the ticket .i was never pulled over or anything but a traffic cam caught me going just a wee bit over the limit.i personally think its a money hungry cash grab and in a bad economy where people aren't working many hours its a bit petty for states to start installing these cash cams everywhere and then you can't fight the ticket because the company is based in freakin Arizona.

That is what I do. Stay out of trouble. Use cruise if you got it. I drive so much back and forth to work over an hour and fifteen minutes one way.........and through every dog and pony hayseed town with bored cops. Trust you me the cruise saves my butt every time!

Slow down through intersections. In Germany they had them long before we did. You could not contest them. They also took your picture too so you could not say anyone else was driving either. You have got to understand Germans for the most part don't drive and eat as Americans do. They had a lot of laughs at Americans who had Popeye's Chicken leg up to their lips taking a scrumptious bite just as they were photographed! LOL

Get this - I got pulled over for driving 70 in a 65 on I-80 in Sacramento. The CHP told me I was traveling too slow in relation to the flow of traffic. I did not get a ticket and I was speeding, but the officer's complaint was that I could cause a traffic snarl by going too slow! I guess normal speed on I-80 is 80. Knowing my luck I'd have gotten a speeding ticket if I had gone any faster.

That's the same freeway I got pulled over late last year as I sped up to 75 to pass someone going slowly in the middle lane...the CHP took pity on me with a warning, but wrote me up for not having my address updated with the DMV for my new address (I had recently moved into town)...

73- 79 seems to be the safe zone on the L.A. freeways.

What kills me is block after block of red light cameras on La Brea and La Cienaga. And there are also the right turn cameras. Those are 500 dollar tickets. I just skip those streets completely, even if it does add more time to the drive.

If you're ever on 80 heading up the hill towards Reno, there is a notorious speed trap from about Gold Run all the way to Truckee. They will clock you with radar from a plane and usually have the cops waiting for you around Blue Canyon. I got pulled over there with about 10 other cars on a trip up to Hot August Nights about 5yrs back. There must have been a whole CHP battalion (whatever they call their units), waiting to pull the cars over. Cop tells me I was caught on radar by a plane. I ask him "Where was the plane?" He answers "Up in the sky". Ass. Every time I head up that way, I see someone pulled over right around Blue Canyon.

Got a ticket for no change of address when I first moved to the Sac area also (Folsom cop). That must be the default offense, when the cop can't find any other reason to give you a ticket.

At least in my area, if you're pulled over for speeding, the officer must show you the radar gun reading if you request it. Good luck for them showing me a radar reading from an airplane or helicopter.

The voters just voted those down in the city of Houston. So in the city limits, they are still up in places but not operational.

Okay, i have had a ton of experience with these, Phoenix has these pretty much everywhere, almost every intersection has a red light clicker , they also put up vans with a camera in more rural areas ,they even put up a speeder catcher on an almost deserted stretch of highway(i believe Arizona is the first to do this). The first time i got one of these in the mail i got a letter from someone else about my ticket (i believe he was a paralegal or law student that had been in the papers and on tv for this situation) he said for 35 bucks he could show me how to not pay this ticket or any other red light ticket ever without having anything happen to my license.

The big thing is you cannot send in anything back to them! Once you send something back to them you are screwed!

I decided to take a chance and send him the money and in return he sent me paperwork that showed all of his research into the laws regarding this, i cant remember all of it but the key points that i remember are :

You have to be served a ticket by an officer of the law(they serve as a witness to the event) the cameras are run by a profiting company that are not police officers They're an outside company.

The other big thing is these letters come regular mail(not certified, or return receipt)If you don't send anything back to them , there is never any proof that you received this in the mail. If you send something back questioning the charge your screwed.

There is some fine line with this violating our rights, that by them sending these by mail it would generate money for them because people would be afraid that they would get in trouble if they didnt send the money back to them.

Sounds like the exact same way you get out of jury duty. Shred it and deny you ever received it. Those come regular mail too.

My guess is that certain states could have different rules but if you get one of these tickets you should look up on the internet for your state if someone is selling the info for you to avoid or beat it in court, pay the 20-40 bucks more than likely it will be well worth it. the ticket in Arizona was a $ 80-100 ticket i paid $35 and saved on 3-4 tickets, + all the people I helped with this info , best 35 bucks i ever spent.

Got my first speeding ticket 6 months ago, 60 in a 45. In my defense, it was a straight stretch in the middle of nowhere, I have no idea why it was posted that slow.
