What is the symbol in the first pic? Have seen it many times, including on the Abraxas Pool CD, but don't know the name or meaning to it.

My next planned if I can get the appointment in with S2M before the Journey concert:

Let the talks begin on how we're imbeciles and how we are the devil-child because of our decisions to ink up.

I'm just being goofy as usual. I'm not against them at all, I just haven't seen anything I thought I would want permanently etched on my body.

There isn't one reason to do it. Some people tattoo for cultural reasons - either as part of their culture or as a challenge to their culture. For some people, it's an expression of spirituality, for others an expression of the great passions of their lives. Some do it purely as body art, some as body modification, and sadly, a few do it out of self-hatred for their body. People should do it for a real reason; it bugs me when people do it for fashion or because of a trend. Not because I object to those things as a reason to do something, but because I think they're being idiots; you can take a piercing out and it will heal, you can't get rid of a tattoo without pain, effort, expense and a big risk of scarring.

I have tattooes, and I have my personal reasons for them. To begin with, they were expressions of the things in my life that I feel define me, things that I am passionate about; after the fact, they've become symbols of the values and shared passions I had with my parents, and because of that, have become momento mori for them.

In the end, does it matter if you understand why other people get tattoos, as long as you understand they have their reasons?

Fun subject apparently, lol. I've been wanting to get my mother's name in small letters across my wrist for a few years now, and just might soon  My brother's with her name:

Oh and before the comments about how dumb it looks on him or anyone else, he's a well respected heavy-rescue firefighter and fire academy instructor, and has 4 other tattoos, so there you go, lol. Looked into getting mine with his tatt artist but they don't do small fine lines as well. Need that specialty for the one I want to get being small and fine lines.

Never understood why people want to permanently mark up their body either. To each their own I guess. If they want to look rediculous, that is their choice. Especially when they become old and wrinkley.

I do object to those, however, that think for some reason it is fashionable to stretch out big ol' holes in their earlobes. That literally turns my stomach. There is a kid that works at our local grocery store that has about 3/4" holes and I refuse to check out at his register, even if I have to wait in a long ass line. It really makes me physically sick. Now tell me...why do they do that? To make old f#*ks like me sick? I gotta believe there is something psychologically wrong with them.

Wow, you came up with that all by yourself huh? I find it ugly on the inside for people to judge others by what they look like on the outside.
