I don't like the self indulgent spiralling sax, and scat singing stuff, but yes - I like the popular jazz/swing standards from the Great American Songbook.
I make my living singing that stuff. And the lyrics and the melodies really move me.

I marvel at the quality of famous jazz voices like Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald.
They truly did have voices like a saxophone.

Absolutely!! I'm pretty sure you'd get kicked out of the State of LA if
you did not at least pretend to love good bluesy, soulful Jazz!!

Unless, of course, you're referring to the Utah type of Jazz, and then
NO ...but I'm pretty sure our own A~DNA is a huge fan of both!!

I've always been a fan of the Miles Davis and John Coltrane variety of jazz. Jazz is some of the most relaxing music on the planet.

Aah yes, both Masters of their Trade.

Have you listened to Sarah Vaughan's jazz trio covers of Beatles songs?
They have a very 70's feel, but you may enjoy them.
I think that lady was able to make her vocal sound like a sax. Incredible control.
And her low notes make me shiver.

In a good way.

Don't be put off by her horrible lipstick though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have posted Youtube links before on here, don't know if you saw them.
But my favourite is her jazz version of 'And I Love Her.'
She does a bit of the dreaded 'ooby dooby dwee ahhh' scat type stuff, but, it's still good.

See what you think....

I've been listening to Hiroshima quite a bit lately.

I dig Spyra Gryro, Chuck Mangione, George Benson and those types.

Bob James is another one (Westchester Lady).

Singers who have elements of jazz in their music, yes. I'm not a purist jazz fan, per se.

I'm not a big fan of jazz in general but I do like some stuff by Wes Montgomery, Al Di Meola, Django Reinhardt, Pat Metheny, etc.

They haven't quite been the same since Stockton and Malone retired.
