I saw some cool planes the last couple of days and snapped some pictures of them.

This is Boeing's new 787 Dream Liner. It's a great looking plane. AA has orders in for 42 of these, but we don't start getting them until 2014.

This has to be the coolest paint job I've ever seen on any plane. This is QANTAS' 747. They just started flying into DFW again recently.

glad i get to be a part of making this.

almost 1/2 the skin is composite, 1/3 as light, and uses 1/2 the fuel.

OK Rick, unbiased opinion. Which is the better plane the new Boeing or the new Airbus? I'd like to think think the latter, but i think the Boeing is outselling the Airbus.

Actually, I think Airbus is outselling Boeing overall right now. Europe has initiated some new low emission rules for their airspace, which a lot of airlines have fought, but to no avail. Airbus already has low emission planes ready for sale, and Boeing is playing catch up on that. American Airlines just placed orders for 450 new planes, 250 of which are from Airbus. As to the 787 vs A380, the 787 is selling more by about 25 percent.

I've always been a Boeing fan. American, at DFW at least, has only flown planes from 3 different makers. Boeing, McDonnell Douglas (Douglas Craft), and Fokker, so my experience is limited to those. They do own Airbus aircraft, but they never fly them to DFW. That will change with the acquisition of the 250 A320's and A321's.

Cool, sounds like you had the better plane, but we changed the rules!

I'll let you know what I think of the Airbus planes when we get them. But that doesn't start until 2013.
