Any thoughts on the upcoming season?

I for one can't believe the Raiders aren't in the market for a FA wide receiver. Steve Smith would be a great addition to the team and would be a big upgrade over anyone they have now, though I love 2nd year man Jacoby Ford. Dude made a lot of huge catches last year.

I m thinking a PACKERS repeat... but the Lions will be tough...I just hope Brett stays retired...

I rode the Packers jock all last season but this season, I don't think they can keep up with the emergence of a number of NFC teams ready to contend for a championship as well. We'll see how Green Bay does with that target on their back, in a tough division to where they will STILL need to keep Rodgers off his ass if they want any chance of repeating. Remember now, they stumbled throughout the season in the middle half and needed to win their last game to back into the post-season so they will need to give a better performance after the first 8 to have a chance to contend this season as champions.

Other than the 2004 New England Patriots, there hasn't been a repeat of any sort. That's the hardest thing to do in the all of sports, repeat a Super Bowl birth so with how tough the NFC team is going to be, I don't think the Pack will repeat. If they were in the AFC Conference then maybe, but it'll be tough for them.

I agree with all of your assessments. As soon as last season ended, I liked the make of the Eagles. Philadelphia is my early NFC Super Bowl pick. They are certainly on the cusp to make a run at a Lombardi, esp if they sign Nnamdi. I look at the AFC and I scratch my head. Some teams were affected by this lockout but I don't think it put a dent in Pittsburgh. They just re-signed Ike Taylor so they return the entire defense that finished 2nd overall and led the league in points, all under contract. New England is a team that could suffer, esp how young they are on defense for those young guys to mesh in mini-camps and all of that. I think the AFC comes down to Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New England or N.Y, all division rivals.

Houston is half a defense away from swiping the rug under an injured Manning and the Colts. Right now, reports are that Asumgough (don't feel like looking up his name, haha) could land in Houston, Philly or even N.Y. Imagine Asumgough and Revis on the same team. That would be utterly disgustingly nasty.

I hope the Dolphins tank the season so they can finally get a franchise QB in the draft. Already sick of watching Henne and the way he stares down his primary receiver. With that said, my prediction is that the Packers are the team to beat again. Aaron Rodgers is a motherfucker. Plus their team last year was beat up, down and sideways and still won, imagine if they stay relatively healthy. In the AFC the Patriots. One more time for Brady.

By the way, anyone play Fantasy Football here? If so, we could get a league together, play it in yahoo, either a 10 or 12 team league, head to head format etc.

Kyle Orton could be headed to Miami and he is a better QB than Chad Henne and Orton loves to throw and he will have his fav target Brandon Marshall.

yep if houston gets D Coordinator Wade Phillips to fix that defense to go along with that great offense Houston will be a really good team this season.if the Jets land Asumgough then the Jets will be right there for a third straight AFC championship game but they will have to go through either Pittsburgh or New England again.

Two words. Tom Brady. You're leaving out the part last year to where I said as long as Tom Brady was on the field, you can't help but name them contenders. There's just something about that defense that could be a liability for how young they are (the lockout reference) and with the Jets continuing to make that step forward in a physical manner in the East then you can't help but think New England could slip here or there, esp since the Jets proved they can go to New England and win a big game.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports free agent Plaxico Burress is expected to decide between the Giants and Steelers.
One report from a month ago suggested Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers' coaches were more interested in Plax than the front office and ownership were. Burress will meet with Giants coach Tom Coughlin Friday night, then fly to Pittsburgh to visit coach Mike Tomlin. The Giants have reportedly discussed a two-year, $10.5 million contract with 60 percent in salary and bonuses and the remainder in incentives.

If he decides to come to Steel Town, then I don't see how Pittsburgh couldn't be the AFC's favorite. That would be an incredible signing. Thing is, is that the Rooney's don't tolerate a bidding war and that 2 year, 10mil could sway Burress back to N.Y.

Gradkowski has been a very nice spark player. It seems like wherever he plays, he brings enthusiasm at the QB position and is a good reliever so to speak. However, I don't believe he's the type that can hold onto the position that long as a starter. With Cincy put in a weird spot (how fitting for a shit organization like them) to where they were going to start Dalton anyway. Gradkowski will come in, teach, bring somewhat of leadership to the team and then give way. This will give the rookie time to learn throughout the season and speculate things rather than be thrown to the dogs. We'll see Andy Dalton by Week 10.

Yeah that's true. Last year after he hurt his shoulder, after coming back after missing a few games the dude would still scramble out of the pocket and try to stick his shoulder into a linebacker to get an extra yard. He doesn't look at the season as the marathon that it is. It's like he thinks he's invincible out there.

A lot of us were shocked in Baltimore to see Todd Heap, Derrek Mason, and Kelly Gregg get cut. Willis McGahee was expected though.

Albert Haynesworth on his way to the Patriots for a 5th round pick. Should be interesting to see if this guy can even pass his physical.

Last I checked, Brady is part of the team and isn't going anywhere any time soon. Sorry, but it's dopey point. It's no different than saying without Peyton Manning, the Colts won't win anything. The only difference is that the Patriots actually won 11 games the season that Brady missed the entire season!

i think the team this year in the NFC will be the Eagles.Trading Kolb and getting DRC for that defense and that D will be pretty damn good this year and was already good before the trade.If Vick stays healthy and they get Desean signed they'll be pretty good.

Vick has always been a flash during the year and sucks when it counts in the playoffs. He was never any different with Atlanta.

It seems Vick chokes in a lot of big games but thats something he will have to overcome.Heard there are rumors Ocho Cinco could be going to the Patriots.If they utilize and get the most out of Albert on Defense then they will be very hard to beat this season.The AFC East will definitely come down to NY and New England.Down to Houston and NY in the Asomough sweepstakes.

I liked him better the first time I saw him...when his name was Randall Cunningham. RC was twice the player Vick is....

On a side note, Houston is offering upwards of 14 mil per....and unless NA takes less money to play for NY, or Fantasy Island doesn't mind taking 2nd fiddle, financially, to NA....my bet is he signs with Texans....

Hate to say it but it looks like its a done deal.Hopefully he will keep his mouth shut and not disrupt team chemistry because he was bad about that in Cincy.


The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Chad Ochocinco after he accepted a restructured three-year contract from the Patriots, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the Bengals will receive two draft picks, one this year and one next season.

Ochocinco was scheduled to make $6.35 million for the Bengals this year. The Patriots wanted him to restructure his contract to fit their cap.

Ochocinco was seen catching a plane to Boston Thursday.

He had a pretty good year two years ago (70+ receptions, 1000+ yards, and 9 TDs) but, other than that, you're right. Two of the last three years have been subpar.
