England and America having trouble with youth going nuts

There are a great deal of riots going on over in England. They interviewed some of the rioters and they said it was them getting back at the rich and they can do what they want. They are looting and destroying property.

I have told my husband when the economy starts to tank, we will see civil unrest. The poor will rise and attack the rich. It happened in our own country long ago, around the age of the Industrial Revolution. The workers got next to nothing and the rich got richer.

Regardless of political policy, I am going to say that I predict it will get much worse in our future. Now thugs are stealing from innocent people over here in some of the states.

It still is not right, being poor does not make you a thief or a thug. Excusing bad behavior because of wants.....stealing I pods, electronics, etc........is not desperation because someone is hungry, if they were hungry they would be robbing grocery stores and MacDonald' s.

But it still happens when the economy gets messed up. Now there are people getting killed in England over it. Very scary stuff!

My heart goes out to those who are being ravaged by these thugs.

I am not surprised though. The Memphis school systems are rough. I would not teach there. Too much gang infestation and violence in the city. The cops cannot keep up with the violence.

very horrible,in fact less than a mile from where i live and my kids go to the elementary school one street away from where it happened.definitely was worried at first when i thought it might have been the school where my kids were.

Lived here my whole life but definitely preparing to move to a better place.Certain areas or neighborhoods are still decent but you have to have a really good neighborhood watch and good neighbors.

This slams the nail right on the head. We as humans own our bodies as our own property, and that is the one of the common features of human nature. From that flows every other right- the right to use your body to speak (free speech) , the right to use your body to worship (religion) the right to engage in commerce and appropriate property for yourself (free market and ownership of goods)

Once government decided that it had the right to take people's property to achieve social goals/fight poverty etc, it by extension sent the message that individuals have no right to themselves as property. As a result of that individuals are not only motivated, they fail to accept the positve obligations that naturally come from possessing and exercising their natural rights. So people start acting uncivilised, violent and like wild animals.

What we have reaped is what we have sown here.

Many of the rioters in the UK are as young as 11 years old.

Why were they out on the streets at that time of night anyway?
Their parents allowed it.

Why are most of them barely literate?
When they play up in school the teachers are powerless to discipline them so they grew up not respecting authority and not fearing the force of the Law.

And when the teachers try to discipline them, they cry to their parents who then come to the school and complain about the teachers.
These kids watch MTV and follow the Rap culture.

This has been a long time coming.
I don't think the economic recession is the cause of it.

It is lack of discipline, respect and education which has been allowed to slide over many years.

The Cops are being accused of standing back while the kids ran amok - but the Cops dare not charge in with riot gear for fear of repercussions from the Liberals and do-gooders saying they have breached the kids' Human Rights.
Just imagine, a kid of 11 looting and setting fire to property and a Cop smacks them with a Baton.
Who would go to jail?
The Cop.

I was reading where this is the first black guy shot dead by police in the last three years. There were seven other deaths attributed to law enforcement over that time period and all of them were white, yet there seems to be false information out there propagating the myth that officers are summarily executing minorities on a regular basis; that is simply not true.

a white guy was pushed to the ground by a Cop recently when some protests got heated, and the guy died.

It must be hard when in the heat of the moment of a riot situation to judge what is 'reasonable' force and what is Police brutality.

Also a guy who resembled a wanted Terrorist was shot by Cops ages ago, and the Cops have been lambasted for that ever since.
The Cops say they were told he was the wanted man.
He wasn't.
But when he was asked to stop, he ran and a Cop shot him dead because the Cop thought he was the terrorist.


I think the riots this week got so out of hand because the Cops had those two cases in the backs of their minds and most of the rioters were young kids.

Damned if they act, damned if they don't.
But at least if they didn't act, or didn't act quick enough they can't be accused of killing 'innocent' kids.

He was a brazilian, named Jean Charles. Don't want to judge the cops they were in the heat of the moment after the terrorists attacks. It was sad, but happens. My only complain is what they gave to Jean's family as a compensation...only £100,000.

But even if they had compensated the family with a hundred million dollars, their loved one is still gone from them.


Something needs to change.

The Cops are now so edgy about taking any action that criminals know they can do exactly as they please without fear of reprisals.
They know the prisons are full and they know that even if they do get sentenced , their sentence will be short.

Of course, there WAS Police brutality before things changed, but now its gone from one extreme to the other.


The current Prime Minister seems to be doing what he can, though.
He's given them permission to use batons, plastic bullets and water cannons if the need now arises.

And he's ordered the Courts to work 24 hours so that all the people arrested can get charged quickly or passed on to the Crown Court if they need a more severe sentence.
