Saw this on my FACEBOOK feed with Sugarland informing what happened. Had no idea people lost their lives. Just one helluva sad story. Very Sad.

2 years ago Rhi, BJG RIP, Barb, myself and 3 folks for the UK and I don't remember who else were all there!! At the time, I swore I'd never go to another fair show, now I know why. This is disastrous!!

BTW!! Barb and I were in the front row 2 years ago. There's definitely an issue with these temporary stages holding up in bad weather!!

Obviousy, you don't live in the midwest, we have thunderstorms that roll through all the time. Lots of wind, rain, lightening and even hail. Not unusual! I've sat through many storms. At Moondance several years ago, huge storm moves in, lots of lightening, wind, etc. They covered the stage equipment, lights were swinging like crazy even though they were lowered. Pretty ugly but like most midwest they blow through pretty quickly and the show goes on. Past years have had some pretty ugly storms.

I'm just getting upset about the companies that are putting up these temporary stages. Remember, Cheap Trick refused to play at venues that used the same company where they had the collapse in Canada! They are not trusting these temporary stages put up for festivals and fairs!

Anyone around here trying to analyze what went wrong in Indy besides me? Take a look at the huge canvas covers. I'm not sure what they were attached to, but that's my guess on what went wrong. Any venue should be able to deal with 70 mph winds. It's a thunderstorm!!

At Moondance, it was technically classified as a severe storm and it definitely was a Severe storm. I'm not even sure Indy was classified as a severe storm? Everyone was warned at Moodance...and that stage certainly didn't collapse. That stage was built as a semi-permanent stage. These temporary stages are scaring the crap out of me for both the performers and and the crowd

Me too. Front row for Journey and Heart in 2009 at this exact place. That is a scary thought...

5th person confirmed dead from this tragic incident.

Sad it will take these deaths to make the changes for standards that already should have been in place

Cheap Trick come up with an original new stage show and now everyone wants to steal it.

That is just horrific to watch and with that structure being so big I can not imagine more were not killed. They were lucky for sure!! Prayers go out to the families.
