Not usually into these movies, and didn't like the Arnie one. But this one looks good..........mmmm, wicked and dark.

Going to see it this weekend with two of the biggest Conan fans I know. Should be fun!

Just make sure they know it's Conan The Barbarian, as in Robert E. Howard (or REH), and not Coco aka Conan O'Brien!

I'll be going to check it out, too. Love the original. This movie's musical score won't be on par with Basil Poledouris's for the '82 film, but Jason Momoa really looks the part and trailers are great.

Like Indiana Jones, this is one movie franchise that should be up to Part 15 by now. I think the second Arnie one flopped, but the series has so much potential. Howard left behind a rich and vast fantasy archive to comb through. I rank him almost up there with Tolkien.

What's amazing is how prolific REH was. He died at 30 but left behind more work than some writers are able to accomplish in a lifetime. Imagine if he'd written another twenty or thirty years?

Hey freeverse, too funny. Im just joking. I admit to being lost in these superhero/comic threads. I havent read a comic since Irona seduced Ritchie Rich, and KISS was putting blood into comic ink..

Going to see this one for sure! I really liked Jason in Stargate Atlantis...one of my fav sci-fi shows.

Jeebus, he's a good lookin' guy! Never even heard of him before this movie? Good choice for a Conan though, the guy just oozes masculinity/testosterone, even his voice. Haha......I'm sure he'll bring in more than a few women to the theatre.

Saw it opening nite, and let me allay all the fears for those who have noticed the absolutely horrid reviews by critics and fans alike -- they are all IDIOTS. The film totally rocked, the action - especially the swordplay - was excellent, Momoa did an outstanding job, and I want a sequel.

Just read that Momoa and I share a favorite movie of all time -- I've seen it more times in theaters than any other film (something like 14 times, I think).

"Last of the Mohicans was like my childhood favorite. I love that movie. The soundtrack to that is probably one of my favorite in the world. My favorite movie is probably the life of Daniel Day-Lewis. If you watched Gangs of New York, it sucked, but then you see him as Bill the Butcher, it's unbelievable. You really want to say Gangs of New York because he's so amazing, but then you want to say There Will Be Blood. I mean, really, he's so amazing. My Left Foot, Last of the Mohicans; the guy is just a freak of nature. He's like a national treasure. That's what he should be considered. Mindblowing, absolutely mindblowing. I can't wait to see him play Lincoln. Anything Daniel Day-Lewis is in, that's pretty much my favorite movie."

I should have clarified - the quote on the Daniel Day Lewis movies was from an interview with Momoa. But yes, definitely talking about that one. I'd read the book when I was a kid (actually my dad's copy from his childhood), and even had it in comic form for a while. I saw an earlier film version, but don't believe it was the Masterpiece Theater version. I think it was a movie. But the DDL version remains one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. It really set a new standard for period action flicks too -- many since have imitated that style.

Do you remember a stupid TV show called "Hawkeye" with Lee Horsley? Aside from Linda Carter, I hated it, lol. Cheaply produced ripoff. To me, it was to LOTM as "Young Riders" was to "Young Guns".

I did enjoy the DDL version of LOTM but would love to see a reboot that followed the more faithful MPT version of the book or even the Randolph Scott 1936 film that I had watched quite a few tmes with my Grandfather on rainy Sunday afternoons on CBS Sunday Matinee (I can still remember Barry White's Love's Theme, the intro music for the the start of the matinee every week).

I don't even think they called him anything but "Hawkeye", just like "The Kid" (not Billy) in Young Riders. Probably had something to do with licensing. I still remember a dumb line from Young Riders, lol... "Ike's got horsh-kicked!"

Lisa Bonet's baby daddy, they have a couple kids........hmm, first Lenny Kravitz, now Jason Momoa.......lol that's some pretty hunky baby daddies.

Had no desire to see Conan. I now see it's getting hammered on Rotten Tomatoes.

24% of critics like, and only 47% of audiences. Pretty terrible numbers.

Yeah, that's a reason to not see a movie. Because CRITICS don't like it.

There aren't as many fans of the sword & sandal genre as there are of "traditional fantasy," so I didn't expect it to do great numbers. I just thought it would make more than $10M.

53% of audiences don't like it! That includes a lot of people who don't mind a stupid movie as long as there's action and excitement. That's saying something.

Like I said, it has a lot to do with the genre, not to mention the fact that Jason Momoa actually LOOKS the part. He looks like a badass, a hardass. He's not "pretty."

If you took that pale-faced wimp from those Twilight flicks and fitted him with a wig, a loincloth and a Toys 'R Us sword, you can bet the movie would've made 35-40M.

What's next, a "Red Sonja" reboot?

I think it's best suited for Conan fans, just like Punisher: War Zone was tailor made for fans of The Punisher. Not everyone's going to get it. I thought it was great. But come to think of it, his sword did look kinda Toys R' Us at times. Apparently, this is the actual sword from the film.

Yeah, I know what Rotten Tomatoes is. Either way, the same principle applies. If you have 100 people, and 54 blah, blah, blah, you know what I mean.

I like a lot of movies the average everyday Journey listener (you) probably doesn't like.
