I saw this band's first ever show (Baltimore - Lyric Theater - look it up). Only lasted one tour though.

This band could've been a lot better than it was with guitarists like Howe and Hackett.

I loved GTR -- I pretty much followed every YES/ASIA-related offshoot for a while. Haven't heard the album in a long time. I do remember the John Payne-era remake of "The Hunter", which was interesting because Downes had nothing to do with GTR.

GTR reminds me of this excellent song by Phenomena -- John Wetton and Max Bacon together. Did someone tell me that wasn't actually Bacon's voice in the video though? Could swear someone mentioned it was actually the guy from Too Shy or something like that.

For more obscure 80s supergroups, I prefer Orion the Hunter

I have the Orion the Hunter album but, yeah, I liked RTZ better as well.

Geoff Downes actually produced the GTR album - and wrote The Hunter.

In my case, I was sifting through all the GENESIS-related offshoots, and discovered GTR in that sense. Really enjoy the album a lot. Always had a soft spot for AOR with a progressive edge.

Limahl? From Gobblejizzgoo, I mean Kajagoogoo? No, that's not him. A chick recorded the vocals Max Bacon lip syncs to, and I believe that's why Maximum Prosciutto looks like he's about to burst into laughter at any moment.

I found that out when I buoght the cassette in 1986!!

That said, GTR hasn't aged well AT ALL. Can listen to one or two songs w/o cringing, and Hackett's & Howe's solo guitar spots were underwhelming as fokk.
