Red Hot Chili Peppers sell 230k on debut

Postby Don » Wed Sep 07, 2011 4:36 pm

I didn't know these guys were still so popular. They picked a bad week to release their record though as Lil Wayne sold one million albums to take the #1 spot.

Freakin' Adele just keeps on truckin' with her album moving another 150k this week. Amazing.

I don't know how they did it because "Most nostalgia bands are selling albums these days. Heck new bands aren't even moving albums." Most Journey fans and Neal Schon.

Journey's 15 extra minutes of fame from Revelation was related to all the media hype of DSB and Arnel's story. No media attention = no sales for Eclipse. Liked Augeri and like Arnel, but personally don't think it makes a difference who the singer post-Perry is unless there is some type of hype going around where people notice, they aren't going to move units. Even Neal admits that in the interview that it was a crazy situation. Foreigner had some good tracks on their recent release and it didn't sell much either. The Chili Peppers may not be as "in" as they used to be, but I would think their following is still paying more attention to their music than many other bands.

RHCPs have a lot of fuckin' fans. A couple hundred thousand units sold during the first week of release sounds about right!

Remember, Rush's Vapor Trails cracked a hundred thousand units its first week of release!
