Well, I will say that I have the PS3 and have been more than satisfied with it. I have had no problems with it at all (knock on wood) and the fact that I can play bluray movies on it is a great plus! The only regret I have is not being lucky enough to get one of the limited models that were backward compatible with the PS2 and PS1 games, but that's something I can live with.

If you're wanting to use the console strictly for gaming and would like to play more of the "move" games, then the XBOX kinect is probably the best one of the two to get.

I have both systems, but play on PS3 more often. Plus its got a bult in solid bluray player. you will need to save up your allowance for the next 85 weeks to be able to afford one though ;) :P Carry on.

Xbox...was a Sony loyalist, then I got an xbox because that's what my brother had and we were playing alot of Call of Duty...I started playing more games on it when I found that alot of the multi-platform games I wanted to play were better on the Xbox (less glitches, smoother gameplay)...For first person shooters that controller on the Xbox is much better, but then for classic 2D type games, the PS3 was better...I don't game nearly as much as I used to, but recently picked up the Kinect and I have to say it's pretty cool...I eventually sold my PS3 last month, original model, on ebay and got about $350 for it..pretty happy about that...Does have a nice Blu Ray player in it but I found I don't need it with video streaming.

Could also mention that Sony's online service was hacked and accounts were compromised...Xbox has had some hardware issues, but finally seemed to have addressed that with the latest Xbox model...At least another 2 years before the next model of both PS and Xbox come out...

I bought one for my son when they first came out(PS3). The one that's backward compatible with PS2 & 1 games. That fucker is still going strong after all these years!

Well first of the accounts that were supposedly compromised didnt affect a single person. Sony actually rewarded people with free games as a nice gesture.
The online gaming being better on 360 is a myth. I have played games online on both systems and as long as you have a good connection, there are no glitches and if there is a glitch on a specific game, its on both platforms. The only reason 360 fanboys (not you ) claim the online is better, is to justify the $60 a year they pay for a service that is free on PS3.
The fact that you compare bluray quality to video streaming totally should void your say in this matter :P  Sure its neat to watch an old movie on Netflix (WISH THEY WOULD BRING KINECT SUPPORT TO NETFLIX), but if you wanna true new movies , 1080p is the way to go

I like the 360 Kinect but they need more games for it. But I like the PS3 controller a lot better. ;)

Wasn't referring to online play being better, but rather specific games being designed initially on the Xbox and then ported (seems to be a trend that continues for multi-platform).

As for streaming, don't need blu ray, as this thing is pretty happenin' - can stream blu ray backups, 1080p and 7.1 sound http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=330. Definitely recommend it (Edit - I believe the PS3 actually has the same functionality for streaming)

btw - God damn on your avatar...
