Bad English

I really would love to see Bad English in concert. I think that instead of downtuning and playing pathetically short sets to save Arnel's voice, Neal, Jon and Deen should put Bad English back together for a while. We get to see Bad English, Neal gets to tour without killing Arnel's voice, and then Arnel's voice will be stronger afterward, just in time for a properly-tuned Journey tour. Nobody loses.

Come on.

Doubt it would happen considering that I don't think Neal and Jon (Or Neal OR Jon) no longer gets along with John Waite. I might be completely wrong on that, but seems like I remember hearing an interview about that a long time ago.

The funny thing about Bad English is that I never realized how many Journey fans did NOT like that band at all or just didn't care for the music. I loved Bad English myself and was disappointed when their second release didn't get much air play (if any) at all. I have both albums and enjoyed both albums quite a bit. Very good, classic AOR stuff in my opinion.

I think the problems are between Cain and Waite. A few years ago, when Journey toured with Frampton and Waite, Neal was going out on stage to perform a couple of BE songs every night during Waite's set.

Neal had his hair cut short back then and I remember seeing him sitting off stage, looking rather anonymous, actually. I stood up with my binoculars and I think I was about the only person in that section standing at that point and I think he saw me peering through the binoculars at him because he smiled and slightly waved in my direction. He probably thought, "Damn! Some asshole in the back is staring at me!"

OH, HECK YEAH! Of course I would love it because I would get to see more of Ricky!

I don't think a Waite fronted band is what the OP had in mind. I think Journey could also cover some BE songs.

He said this and I quote:
Neal, Jon, and Deen should put Bad English back together for a while.

I'm going out on a limb and assuming he means John Waite as well.

Yes John Waite and Ricky Philips....hence Arnel resting his voice. If Journey did a BE cover, I'd want Deen to sing it.

Hasn't Neal said he doesn't ever want to play a Diane Warren song again? You can't cover Bad English without playing the band's most famous song.

That would be me. Never the biggest fan of John Waite, and BE was about 65-35 in his favor. Not saying there weren't some good songs though.

I think for the right price he would. Considering that he's going to need to recover that money he just spent on that new ride!

I would absolutely love to see this. It is true that Jon and John had a huge battle over the last album and the band was basically broken up before the record even came out. Neal was unhappy using outside writers and the emphasis on ballads.

As far as short sets, I think they are not ideal for me, but this show is LONG from start to finish. They are about 20 minutes shorter this tour than in 2008, but remember they have given Foreigner 20 more minutes than Heart was getting. I think that it was a pre-tour item and doesn't have anything to do with Arnel's voice. I don't think we will ever see a full tour in original key again. No matter how much time they take off.

Seems like Arnel could handle a BE song, if that's the ONLY way I'd get to hear one live, Journey covering one would be kind of nice. Maybe Deen&Arnel could do a duet.

Arnel singing "When I See You Smile"
