I'm thinking of sitting on my porch dressed as I.C.E. That should keep those little bean sprouts off of the lawn.

My trick or treat night for the kids already came last night. It was fun but as always, kids wouldn't step foot on my porch until I warmed up to them, haha. I went as The Crow. I wrapped myself up in chains and everything, even the adults got a huge kick out of it. I dress as The Crow every year passing out candy. Halloween is my favorite of all time. Have so much fun with it.

Here's a pic. I usually host huge Halloween parties on the weekend leading up to it but my budget is very tight this year due to school and studies so I'm going to have to skip out this year.

Boycotting. I'm fairly pissed. My wife bought a costume for our niece, Neelee, who is 14, which I think is one some bar slut would wear. I've been very vocal about it, but it's not getting through, evidently. My wife's argument is that she will be wearing shorts under it. But my argument is that she shouldn't have to wear a costume where shorts have to cover something up.

So, I ask you, do I need to ease up, or do I need to put my foot down?

It's the Candy Corn Witch costume, if you care to Google it.

Ricky, there is not a thing wrong w/the CCW costume ...unless it
is too small?!?! :? Other than that it looks very tasteful ...I say
take a look at it on her and then ease up ...or burn it!!

I'd say ease up, Rick. One night's costume doesn't define who Nelee is. Now if a pattern develops, I'd be worried. But this isn't it. Voice that you're not crazy about the costume, but that you trust that person underneath the costume has the character that you think she does, and that's why you're going to allow it. That will be the best move for all parties involved. She'll respect that ... and that's the most important thing you can give to her (your trust).

:o Sometimes you just surprise the hell out of me!

He's right on the money, Rick. But I hear ya, last year my daughter dressed up as a sexy cop, the hat, the cuffs and cop dress (short) and boots, but like your wife I was at least able to talk her into wearing shorts underneath. It's one night and Halloween at that, so i would say ease up a little too, Rick, as long as she's not dressing skanky as a norm. I recall my dad hating what me and my sister wore back in the 70s/80s also. I keep telling my daughter, years ago jeans didn't have the give or lycra they do now.....they were pure denim. So there was no give, gawd the dads hated the 80s tight jeans and heels. At least on their daughters, anyways.

And Dan's right, your trust IS the most important thing you can give her. My daughter and I share a great bond and alot of that is from trust, knowing she can tell me ANYTHING. And true, sometimes I have to bite my tongue and not go postal on some of the smaller things....you gotta pick your battles. But I treasure that she feels she can talk to me whether it be good or bad......about herself, a friend, boyfriend. Some times the hardest thing to do when it comes to our kids........is to just LISTEN.

I remember looking online for a good costume last year and decided to check out the women's costumes (almost like the bra and panties section of the old Sears catalog  ) and man....EVERY single costume was a sexy, skimpy costume! Not that I minded one bit, but there isn't a lot of conservative costumes out there for the women.

I got a batman mask you can cut out of a cereal box of Cocoa Puffs. My students are doing comic books and I thought it would be funny to cut it out and come into class with it on.

Other than that, I am staying at home, watching scary movies and just relaxing. My kids are grown and I have given at the office for years at dressing up and handing out candy and trick or treating.

My husband bought some candy in case friends bring their kids by, but I am not even turning on the porch light. Kind of burned out I guess.
