Sad day in the Midwest

Four people died this past evening in a plane crash in Arkansas. Included in the crash was Kurt Budke, the head coach of the Oklahoma State women's basketball team, and an assistant.

I grew up 20 miles from Kurt and competed against him in basketball during high school. He played for our rival, which won back to back state championships. He hung 28 points and 22 rebounds on us our last game and I don't think anyone noticed. Probably the smartest, smoothest player ever went up against. I enjoyed following his career and am in shock this happened.

Please remember the Budke family and the others' that perished on the plane. OSU must be devestated. They just lost several from their men's basketball program about 10 years back.

Just awful.

Very sad indeed. Was this one of those small private planes? I wouldn't get on one of those things if it were taking me straight to the site of Blackbeard's treasure for me to steal. Too fucking dangerous. My dad's old boss died in a private crash, my grandparents almost went down in one many years ago when they were flying to a college FB game (my grandfather did play-by-play for University of Toledo football games for a bit), and a woman from a family I know lost her entire immediate family (brother, parents, sister) in a private crash.

Around here you see it almost daily on the news that one went down. I'm with you Matt, I don't have any desire to get on one.

Sorry for your loss, Pete.
