Thorin was the leader of the dwarves that Bilbo accompanied on their journey to the Lonely mountain.

I'm a big fan of The Frighteners also, Fox's last great role before the shakes took over full time.

Yeah, that's a cool movie. MJF was on a few episodes of Rescue Me a couple years back and he did a great job.

Looks alot younger than I imagined him. The 1970's Rankin-Bass Hobbit cartoon will always rule.

Yep...that movie rules. I even had the album.

Bakshi took over for LOTR in '78(Anthony Daniels as Legolas)....not as good. Then that 'GOD' awful RoTK cel cartoon totally blew(back to Rankin-Bass)....

Well, you know the story, Bakshi ran out of money. I think if he had finished it, it may have been awesome. Jackson even lifted a few shots directly from the movie.

It looks like these films will shed a little light on the corruption of Saruman and also the White Council driving Sauron out of Mirkwood as was alluded to in the book.

The Dwarves' singing set the mood for the entire story. Rowling can continue to be a pimple on Tolkien's arse.

Which is one of, if not the, primary reasons I want to see this film. Christopher Lee is one of my very favorite actors, with an on-screen gravitas few can match.
