I mean as far as Rock Hall classes go, it's not that bad.

Considering the bands that aren't in there yet, it's bad.

I don't see any on that list that deserve it. A slight case could be made for Guns N' Roses but I don't think one huge album and one or two other moderately successful albums really qualifies them.

I'm waiting for Joe Bonamassa's rant on how he wasn't nominated....wait.....wait....wait for it......

You meant inductees, right? Heart and Joan Jett were nominees and I don't see them on your list.

I have never understood Guns N Roses. Axl Rose is a horrible singer and they had one album of note. BFD

The thing about the Rap Group, that isn't Rock and Roll. Have a Rapper's Hall of Fame. When you have artists who are deserving having to wait till they die because of a rap group that pisses me off!

Don't know why anyone even bothers to talk about this shithall at all. Worthless and pointless.

No flaming necessary. It is indeed a joke.

I'm not a big fan of the Beastie Boys but they did introduce something different to the world of rock/pop with their hybrid style. Sales of their last album show that they still l have a loyal fan base willing to accept new music from them also. A lot of these acts get in for daring to be different. Unlike Journey, REO, Styx, Foreigner, you can't really label The Beasties as another cookie cutter act that didn't bring something new to the table.

That is why we come here Chief. To discuss the good stuff. 8)

Hello, my name is Ginger..........and I have been addicted to MR for quite some time now. I have tried to take breaks, but feel compelled to return to talk about music and miscellaneously nefarious things. I refuse to do the 12 step program, because that would mean I would have to be a lemming and listen to only HOF nominees. Besides MR is better than the proposed Spanish MR, which would celebrate tone deaf mariachi bands. I am addicted you see............Mwahhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaa!

YES. I won't expect many posters here to even acknowledge the validity of BB as a proper musical entity — too much closed-mindedness runneth rampant in these parts — but your post is spot on. Anyone who has heard albums like Check Your Head and Intergalactic knows what's up.

Much respect to those being inducted for 2012. Talented and influential bunch for sure. (Can't wait to see what ensues with GNR.)

But...

Heart not getting inducted is an egregious oversight, subjectively and objectively speaking.

The band goes back to 1975. There is longevity.

There are classic albums, and a catalog of songs that have endured. There is a musical legacy.

There are artists that have been influenced by the music of Heart. There is inspiration.

Ann and Nancy Wilson are female pioneers in rock. There is innovation. (And they've continued waving the Heart flag into a fifth decade.)

The voice of Ann Wilson is pure gold, both in the studio and, even to this day, live onstage. There is excellence.

There must be some sort of mystery criteria within the voting process, because from my perspective -- and similar to KISS, Journey, Bon Jovi, Rush, Def Leppard, among other rock bands, not being inducted -- something just doesn't add up.

Heart rules! But I won't lose a wink over them not being in the RnRHoF. Nearly every band I listen to isn't.

GMF is already in......and if you are voting just on the Rap Pioneer basis, King Tim III(Personality Jock) was the first commercial rap release....before Sugarhill Gang and Rapper's Delight. That's one thing I'm confident in - my late 70s/80s rap music.....lol

If the Beasties are considered rap then so is Linkin Park, right?

I was just waiting for somebody to come in and go "It's the ROCK 'N Roll Hall of Fame...not RAP!"
