Excellent article, and hits right at the source. Just saw another a few days ago where the band War was offended for being passed up while the Beastie Boys were inducted. The RaRHOF should have the decency to change their name if they can't muster the integrity to make common sense choices. They are truly offensive.

Rush, the band every critic loves to hate, was snubbed again this year — a streak that’s now nearing Ron Santo/Susan Lucci-like levels of absurdity. Nearly 40 years after the Canadian power trio released their first album, the classic rock radio staple is still recording new music, still touring — with all the original members — and still packing huge venues around the world. Rush has 14 platinum albums — 14!

Laughable. All you here who complain about the rock Hall is funny.

Everybody in the HOF is deserving. There are some acts that should be there well ahead of Journey. Ever heard of Lynard Skynard? Chicago? Hell, the E Street Band isn't in(Bruce is of course, but the band isn't due to technicality, and they are 5 times the band Journey is.

But to hear you all cry and call it "shit" and a "joke" just reeks of jealousy. Carry on.

I don't get it...Them and KISS are probably the two biggest snubs. Both have sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide and, other than Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and The Who, have influenced more other acts than just about anyone.

Agreed on all accounts. I would even put Journey in there. They were pretty good for 6 or 7 years. But Foreigner? Fuck no. Heart? Nope.

Elvis is in three times, or rather he is in the RnR HOF, the Country HOF and the Gospel HOF. I would say Bruce and Bono are RS's darlings. It IS overboard, I can admit that, but it's not their fault. Dave Marsh is too Bruce and not enough other acts IMO, yet he is an influence in the inductee happenings, as is Steve Van Zandt, who really pushes for the smaller less named acts.

Not sure why the E Street Band didn't go in with Bruce. He was inducted in 99 I believe and they were broken up, but still, to not have perhaps the best band to ever step on a stage together not get in is in fact head scratching. Three amazing guitar players, of which bruce is the worst of all, the best saxophonist ever in C, and the incredible rythym section of Max and Garry? Bruce has said this is his biggest regret in life..not just music, but life.

Pretty good list. But I'd add subtract Kiss and add The Guess Who in there. They started it all for canadian rockers and are pretty legendary in their own right. Tons of hits that go back to the 60s and early 70s. American Woman, Laughing, These Eyes, Undun, No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature, Share The Land etc.

The elitist idiots running the hall of shame are the same ones that make lists that put Springsteen and Cobain as 100 greatest "guitarists" while leaving off people like Tom Scholz, Vai, Morse, Malmsteen, Satriani Mcalpine, etc.... and putting Blackmore at number 50.

No it's not, Rolling Stone hates Journey remember. Both parties could come right out and say they were reuniting and they still wouldn't get in.

I agree with all those you noted who were left off. However, Blackmore is an amazing guitarist and probably deserves better than #50.
