New Years resolutions???

Just figured I'd see what everyone is NOT going to do next year? Or START doing? I'll go ahead and start. 1st, I'm not going to drink as much next year as I did this one. 2nd, I'm going to try to focus on physical training more and get my old ass back into a shape that resembles G.I. Jim! 3rd, I'm going to try to work on my patience and understanding.

Okay, enough from my diaries... what about you?

My resolution is to not make any resolutions.

Resolutions are generally gay, but I am finally going to teach myself a 2nd instrument: bass. My friend just gave me his shitty old bass, so I'm ready to go. I have the foundation from guitar (at least notes/scale-wise), but it's amazing how different playing bass is from playing guitar.

I'm really having fun so far. I've been working on learning some go-to licks, getting used to right hand fingerpicking bass-style, and teaching myself a few songs. Boston's basslines have surprised me: Scholz composed some NICE melodic bass lines for some of their songs, like Peace of Mind. Really fun to play and great melody, a lot like Paul McCartney's basslines.

Get back into tip top shape, which I only need about a month anyhow to get back on track. My muscle memory is pretty damn solid and fast.

ahh youth....

to relate this...shortly before my xmas holiday trip with family this year, i went to the dr to get a prescrip for an anti biotic (shitty long term flu to blame)...got on the scale as part of the standard process, and was mortified, i was 270lbs...im 6'2...im typically managing a 230 weight...kinda put me in a bad mood for a bit... as soon as i got back home i started a diet program and completely cut out drinking...rejoined a gym, and in a scant 5 days, i dropped 8 lbs...i mustve been bloated...anyway, im drinking today, but come tomorrow im back on my plan...hoping to get down to 210 by mid year maybe more. then i plan to pick up weekend only drinking, not excessive.

anyway, thats the plan, life has a way of spoiling such targets, (i was on my way to a 30+ weight loss in '09 but went through a bad break up which took a toll), but thats the good thing about the new year, you get another chance to get it right. good luck to anyone with ambitious new years resolutions.

I resolve to not resolve any resolve, that I may or may not resolve, or would that be a resolve in itself. :?

I hate resolutions, I think it better to reflect on a year, and decide to make better decisions, but not so much of a promise. Promises are meant to be kept, instead I would rather go with a plan to improve myself.

I may not reach all the goals and plans, but I can strive to do better. Nothing broken, or no regretting. Just learning from reflection.

I spend a few minutes in meditation and prayer each morning. I find that this really helps me to start the day with a good frame of reference. As part of my prayers, I thank whoever is helping me - I`m sure that somebody or something is - I express gratitude for all my blessings and try to forgive the people that I`m feeling negative toward. I try hard not to judge anyone, and I try to bless everyone who is part of my life, particularly anyone with whom I am having any problems.
~ Jim Henson

I think this is a good way to start a day, at least for myself. I do that kind of now, but need to adhere to it more. Even those I disagree with, I wish only good things. I would not have any harm come to anyone. I need to remind myself of that daily, to wish good things to everyone I meet. He was a cool, gentle soul. :D

You can thank Wombat for me being back. I asked to clarify a post about me that I saw a few months ago and he was the one that decided to reinstate me and let me respond on my own. I appreciated it.

Good for you! Maybe you'll be this good one day. :D I watched that 7 minute intro from 2 feet away along with one of the best guitar solos I've ever seen live too.....lol stunned silence from the crowd 'til we could collectively pick our jaws up off the floor. Two extremely talented players that just have to be witnessed live............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03y---SUx_E

A grown woman like yourself shouldn't be this hateful. Maybe you're stressed out and in need of a break. Go pray to Jesus and do the dishes - that'll cheer you straight up.

I already did that, right after I did all the laundry, by hand, pressed and starched my husbands shirts and baked cookies....it didn't help.
