WTF???
Hitting Amway in Orlando and Phillips in Atlanta in April.

Kool and the Gang have a ton of hits. I think this is a really "Kool" choice. Much more inspired than having some current nu-metal or alternative band that I would just remain in the beer line for.

Kool and the Gang sold maybe 1500 tickets in an 8000 seat venue here in September. Snoozer.

Let's see...Ladies' Night, Too Hot, Cherish, Celebration.   This has got to be a stunt. No way.

lol ...they have at least an lp's worth~ Jungle Boogie, Joanna, Get Down on It, Hollywood Swinging, Fresh,
Take My Heart, Let's Go Dancin Ooh, la, la, La ...love Kool & The Gang!!
That said, it is an odd pairing ...I suppose they both fall into the classic category!?!
Bob Marley's son as an opener was stranger, to me!!

I don't think it would be a snoozer, though, K&G will get the audience/ladies off of their asses for sure!!

I'll be at Orlando show also. Let's see about getting "toasted" before we head in SG.

I should've quoted HP ...this is a continuation
of his short list~don't think he's a funk fan!
Does anyone know if JT is a member of this
group any longer ...I didn't even think about
that ...it may not be "Kool"!!

I was just trying to contrast the songs they may be playing to Van Halen and what VH fans might like. I used to play many of those songs not on the list during my days in the DJ business. Always thought Kool and the Gang was a poor man's Earth Wind and Fire.

In their orginal form you are correct, they are 3 out of 3, but without Lionel Richie the Commodores are not very good. Kool and the Gang blow them off the stage now. Earth Wind & Fire are the bar in this category.

I will readily admit, however, that Maurice White is one scary looking Motherfucker!

Not a fan of Nightshift?

JT has been gone forever. I expect a more funky playlist like the band use to do during the '70s.
The last Van Halen Tour had Ky-Mani Marley and Ryan Shaw as openers, yet still pulled in $93 million.
Kool And The Gang is actually an upgrade over 2007/8, all things considered.

Yep, that's his name!! Only knew of him because of his dad and he's primarily reggae like his pops, too.
Have never heard of Ryan Shaw ...so yeah, it matters not who the opener/s are, I agree!!

Van Halen toured with a reggae band back in 2007, so this doesn't surprise me one bit. Actually, I like Kool & the Gang. Really makes me consider going to this concert.

Tickets went on sale for half the dates this morning. It looks like the two shows at MSG are close to or already sold out.
Doesn't look like Kool And The Gang are hurting sales at all.

i did not get tickets. Too pricey, but they are moving well in most cities. All the shows near me sold out.

Wow, I guess I didn't realize how many Kool & the Gang songs I know (from just radio over the years). I also didn't realize they still toured and whatnot.

I've yet to buy a ticket. I need to see the setlist once the tour gets going. Honestly, I don't care to see the same songs from 07 plus 3 new ones. I dropped $175 a few years ago and while it was nice seeing DLR with the Halen's, Mikey was missed.

Plus, we had some back out of tickets and I had to sell 2 of the $175ers for $100 each. I may wait and get a ticket before the show for that price.

Like and audience full of late 40 to 60yr olds are really going to get fired up by anything(i'm sure kool in the gang is going to ruin the mosh pit that was originally planned for this van halen tour)

I'm pretty sure that as long as we have our Depends, oxygen tanks
and Viagra we can still get fired up (just not w/Joanna)!! :D

You kidding me? I know a bunch of 50 somethings that can still get fired up at concerts. Now...a few cocktails or beers do help, but still. Now...endurance may be an issue.

Maybe they are just looking out after their fans and allowing them to sit while being "warmed up."
