They'll be just fine. They're up & running ;) This is their response :

Year of the storm

2012 is the year of the storm.

The Pirate Bay will reach an age of 9 years. Experiencing raids, espionage and death threats, we're still here. We've been through hell and back and it has made us tougher than ever.

The people running the site has changed during the years. No sane human being would put up with this kind of pressure for 8 years in a row. An insane hobby that takes time from our families, our work (sorry boss) and our studies.

What binds us all together is a strong belief that what we do is good. That it is something we one day can tell our grandchildren about with pride. People from all over the world confirm this. We read testimonials from people in Syria longing for freedom, thanking us for what we provide. We receive more than 100 visits daily from North Korea and we sure know that they need it. If there's something that will bring peace to this world it is the understanding and appreciation of your fellow man. What better way to do that than with this vast library of culture?

With this said, we hear news from our old admins that they have received a verdict in Sweden. Our 3 friends and blood brothers have been sentenced to prison. This might sound worse than it is. Since no one of them no longer lives in Sweden, they won't go to jail. They are as free today as they were yesterday.

But what enrages us to our inner core is that the system, the empire, the governments, are still allowed to try to boss you and us around with one law crazier than the other. Do you think they will stop with SOPA/ACTA/PIPA? They will not. Because you won't stop sharing those files. Because we will not stay down. Because no one can turn back time. Together, we are the iron that hardens with each strike.

In this year of the storm, the winners will build windmills and the losers will raise shelters. So flex your muscles, fellow pirates, and give power to us all! Build more sites! More nets! More protocols! Scream louder than ever and take it to the next level!

In the hope to change this verdict into a more favorable one, the three founders of The Pirate Bay filed for a hearing at the Supreme Court. This request was denied and as consequence, the last decision determined by the Court of Appeal still stands. This means that Peter Sunde (Brokep) has to serve eight months in prison, Fredrik Neij (TiAMO), faces ten months while Carl Lundström has the lightest sentence of four months. They all have to pay cumulative damages of 46 million kronor ($6.8 million).

However, the three men behind The Pirate Bay don’t actually have to go to prison, as the Swedish justice system allows 12 months to be deducted from the prison sentences following trials that last more than 5 years.

Bt junkie had been hit with some kind of virus that when you opened the site up it would remove certain files from windows that rendered peerblocker dead(would not open anymore), quite a few people had this issue and i havent really heard of a fix other than having to reformat your harddrive. I'm not overly surprised that they shutdown yesterday in light of this recent problem.

Now, THAT would be one helluva script!  I'm fairly certain that's not the case but hey..... anything's possible. The chances of that scenario being true are exponentially slim at best. There are too many safeguards in place even without any onboard virus protection. And even then, there aren't but a handful of core Windows components that, if irreparably damaged or even removed, would require a complete reformat of the drive.

Interesting info though. Keep us updated if you hear anything more. I personally like BT's approach to torrents and their simple GUI.

one of the following windows services are not running

base filtering engine
ipsec policy agent
Ike and Auth ipsec keyring modules

This is the error that many people were getting there was some forum with people saying they got the virus and from what i rememeber some of the techies were saying that files were removed as a result of this virus, they said to try to install the files again, i was one that got this, i rememeber opening bt an immeadiatly my virus software went off, then i went to remove it and after i wasn't able to get peerblocker working (and apparently there were others stating the same issues. some people were able to get there peerblocker working but it seemed like most were not and they said the only way they could was to reformat and start from scratch. I tried the reinstall of these files but i didnt see any change so i'm just assuming that i will have to reformat in order to get it working again.Peer blocker seemed to be the only thing affected. :?:

Just going on what i read and what actually happened ,i used to use Bt here and there but found better sites , and found i would only go there occasionally, when i came back a couple a weeks ago as soon as i opened the web page that issue occured

  Dude, that is just insane! I feel for ya my man. It absolutely sucks on a completely different plane when something happens on your computer that you either didn't physically do or allowed to be done. Those kinds of issues I put in the "annoyance" category since those kinds of things can happen from buggy software, hardware issues, etc - and generally speaking, everything gets fixed and put back to normal fairly quickly and all is well. But, when you go from computer user to victim of someone's maliciousness in the blink of an eye that's when it gets personal.

I'm an IT specialist and sales manager for a local company here in the PHX area. A large percentage of our business (65% or so...) is computer repairs. Of that, over 50% is virus removal and everything that goes with the restoration of an infected system. And those figures are increasing every month! It absolutely sucks that the hierarchy and configuration of the personal computer allows for the infiltration and invasion of one's computer system. The individuals who write these rogue programs are very, very sharp folks. The complexity of their craft is ever increasing and in most every case are written so well that when you compare the compilation of the code with a script from let's say, Microsoft or Adobe, it's instantly obvious that college education came into play for both writers.

As for BT's site, well... I just hope they're able to get it back under control. It's always been a consistent site for me when the more prominent ones are down for whatever reason + people who d-load from them actually take the time to post comments about the torrent which I find helpful. My favorite sites vary depending on what I'm d-loading. For multimedia related I'll most always start with Torrentz or ezTV. For Apps it's either ISOhunt or Cool Release.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Good luck with that and let us know how you make out.
