I've heard that too. Wasn't he originally produced by Don Henley or Bruce Hornsby or Bryan Adams.... Hell, I can't remember who it was that introduced him to the music world but if memory serves, it was somebody who was also notorious for being an ass.... anyone...?

Bryan Adams is supposed to be not a nice guy? Didn't know that.

Don't quote me on that... I've never met him. For some reason, I seem to remember back when Marx came on the scene, whomever he was being produced by was regarded as kind of a egomaniac/Holier-Than-Thou type of person. He's Canadian, right? So it would make sense that Adams would have been his producer. We'll have to wait for Deb to saunter in here and give us clarification.

DISCLAIMER: The above statement in no way suggests that just because he's Canadian that he's difficult, egotistical, etc. Just wanted to clarify that before I got reamed by Deb for the way I worded my reply.

Marx's first album was produced by David Cole and himself. Marx was already an established songwriter and session vocalist by that time.
Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner and Timothy Schmit all performed on the album so there's the Eagles connection.

Met Fee numerous times over the years - (even played keys in a band that opened for them and Red Rider at the county fair back in '80) and yes he is one strange Hombre but he's also one of the genuinely nicest individuals I've met in this business - perhaps not at the same level as Ann and Nancy but still, very cool guy. Prairie Prince on the other hand.... Woof! He and this girl I used to work with years ago are cousins - close cousins (kissing cousins I suspect...) She told me stories about that freakshow that made me cringe!

Back to Marx.... I could be remembering it wrong but what I do remember is that right when he hit the scene, all credit was going to one individual in particular for discovering and backing him. However, after reading his Wiki page, I see his stardom and emergence onto the music tapestry didn't come about in the way I'm describing so I'm apparently confusing him with somebody else. Somebody Canadian. Some solo artist. Who the fuck knows?! It was too many years ago.

One interesting thing I learned about him is that he is the only individual to have written a song that has been awarded a Grammy in 4 separate decades. THAT is pretty impressive!

  8) And, being the stalker-looking, pretty boy, soap-opera-stylin' jag he is, he could be heard humming and giggling his song, "Right Here Waiting for You" as they walked away.

It was David Foster.
