They got the wrong Jon!

Sheesh...So are they just going to replace the singer every time they get sick and can't do a gig? Why not just hire like 5 vocalists at a time and whoever's in the best shape on any given night is the one to take the stage?

Wow. What a trainwreck

Unbelievable.

More proof Yes needs to hang it up. They fired Oliver Wakeman to spite his dad, released a so-so album that inexplicably gave many-a-fan raging wood, and now they've hired a stand-in for their version of Arnel PiƱeda. Benoit is "recovering from an illness" and can't perform for a while. Deja vu?

What a f*cking trainwreck.

Count me in as someone who loves the Fly From Here suite, but this is getting ridiculous. An illness replacement for the illness replacement who became the "permanent" lead vocalist. I hope Benoit has a good contract lawyer.

Want a guy who sounds like Jon Anderson? Try this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CqerrnpPl8

They could always just pull their balls out from between their legs and ask Jon Anderson to come back.

This is Jon Davison, the new guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O82GGiFB1Pk

They could always get Christina Booth from Magenta. She at least has great titties:

I'd rather Anderson join up with Trevor Rabin and form their own Yes band.

Press Release:

Prog rock band YES were forced to cancel the last 3 shows of their European Tour in December due to the illness of lead vocalist Benoit David who has still not recovered. To avoid disappointing their fans on the forthcoming Australasian leg of their world tour, they have found a replacement singer. Jon Davison will join YES as lead vocalist for the upcoming dates in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and Hawaii. YES really appreciate Jon Davison joining them for this leg of the tour and are sure this arrangement will satisfy all YES fans.

Truth:

"Aging old fart prog band Yes, were forced to cancel 3 shows from their European Tour, therefore affecting their retirement funds, in December due to the illness of lead vocalist Benoit David who is acting like a complete pussy by not manning up an dperforming, despite being complete unable to. To avoid any further loss of votal fnd needed to support old-age drug prescriptions, and without any thought given to dumb ass fans, on the forthcoming Australasian leg of their world tour (I mean, it's Australia....they'll accept any old crap down there), they have found another stand in stooge. Jon Davison will join YES as lead vocalist for the upcoming dates in backwater New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, and Hawaii. YES really appreciate whoever this guy is joining them for this leg of the tour and really don't give a shit if this arrangement will satisfy all YES fans. Now fuck off."

I was excited for the rumored/discussed Anderson-Wakeman-Rabin (with maybe Bruford, and probably Levin) project, but they turned the heat way down on that. Jon, Rick and Trevor remain good friends, so I won't rule it out. Yet.

I'll admit, I really liked Fly From Here, but as true with a lot of classic rock bands, once you get on this train of replacing the replacement that sounds like the replacement that sounded like the original guy...you tend to become a parody of yourself.

My thoughts exactly!  So it's okay for Journey to do it, but not Yes? I don't get it. :? Hell, it's their band and their decision. Who cares if they're old and need medication? Won't we all at some point? Lol!! I think the singer they're going with should please Yes fans, and he sounds great.

Sorry for not looking closer Andrew... I just noticed that you were quoting someone else. I stand corrected and retract my statement.

I've always liked the Rabin version of Yes better...

Kinda like a pitching staff for a MLB team. Just keep them in rotation. And then when the tour is over, they could put out live albums with each singer, and a final compilation. It'd certainly be an interesting twist on marketing.

later~

Heck. Why not? TSO has two completely different bands and seems to work for them!

They're two completely different bands/outfits, though. TSO, for the most part, is a faceless collection of musicians, an "orchestra", who don't rely on individual members having name or face recognition.

Jon Davison sounds closer to Anderson than Benoit did...but I still want Anderson back. I still will be listening since they are my fav band of all time.

Sorry but do not disrespect the band. Yes is far more talented than Journey has ever been! Steve Perry is my fav singer of all time, but YES built the mold for PROG ROCK! Yes still rocks while Journey is fading. Faded when Perry left.

I love both bands. However, they're certainly not far more talented than Journey has ever been. Wakeman is certainly a much better player than Cain or Rolie and Squire is obviously far better a bass player than Valory. However, I'll take Neal over Howe any day of the week and Deen as a drummer over Alan White. And, of course, Steve Smith is recognized world-wide now as one of the best percussionists in the entire world.

Alan's getting old so his playing is starting to drag (though he reportedly tears it on the trio album with David Torn and Tony Levin). Throw original Yes drummer Bill Bruford into the mix, though...and Deen is dust.

Bruford is one of my favorite drummers. "Fragile" is still one of my favorite albums to listen to drum-wise.

Rilly?? That's a classic. You might like the '80s incarnation of King Crimson (Fripp-Belew-Levin-Bruford) better: Discipline, Beat, Three Of A Perfect Pair, Absent Lovers (live 2CD).

I actually like KC's first few albums up until "Red". That one just never grabbed me, for whatever reason. It's been awhile since I've listened to it, though. I probably ought to go back and take a listen again.
