With the Grammy Awards on Sunday night and the last weekend before Valentine's Day upon us, there is a lot more conjecture than usual in this week's midweek projections. The show’s performers typically see substantial increases after appearing, as evidenced by the remarkable spike seen last year by Mumford & Sons. Can Adele, who is performing and favored to win Album, Record and Song of the Year, see a big enough lift to keep Van Halen from scoring next week's #1 record? Here's how it looks headed into Grammy weekend:

I can't see any way that Adele maintains the top spot up against the mighty Van Halen. I do think she will regain it from them at some point in the next few weeks though, especially if there's a Grammy sweep.

I didn't see Eclipse in THAT list. It must be hovering just outside the 15th spot.

Wow, Adele's album has been out for a year and she is still pulling in those kind of numbers with hardly any promo for quite a while. Her singles off that album are golden. The Grammys will definitely give the album another big push.

This is great, hope it continues for them.
I haven't even listened to ADKOT in full, yet ...but so looking forward to it!!

On the 4th track of the new VH album, and so far I'm loving it. I think they sound fantastic and true to form. Not missing Mike that much, like I thought I would.

I hope Van Halen gets it. I was dissappointed when Michael Buble kept KISS out of the top spot when Sonic Boom debuted at #2.

It's not too poppy to my ears. The chorus is a little repetitive, but that's my only nit pick on a good tune. Bruce's last 2 CD's have been remarkable, especially so late into his career.

Dean, when is he at Met Life Stadium? Is that a 2nd leg of the tour after the currently announced dates? And yeah, I'd be up for it.

She hooked me. I ordered BOTH discs. She is that good. Just hope she doesn't shut Bruce out of the number 1 spot come the week of March 6th. I still think he will have monster year- Biggest Tour, multi platinum album, song of year, etc. But man, that Adele is a nice story. If anyone caught her interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 minutes before the Grammy's, she was forthright, self humiliating, humble and admitted she "loves to swear." She had AC rolling with laughter. She ultimately said she doesn't even like to sing, and that her songs were mostly written about the breakup of her past "asshole boyfriend." Yes, she said that. Hard not to like her.


PS- Anyone know what happened to Nora Jones?
PPS-I thought the Country genre last shined. Love Taylor Swift. Like Bruce, she writes the entire album; lyrics, music and also plays most of the instruments. Bruce recorded his last song playing guitar(lead and rythym), drums, keys, organ, piano, bass and whatever else. Did the entire thing, then gives it the ESB and they put their own personality to their respective instument. That's major talent folks.

Only if they count the high notes that he used to squeal in the 80's. I'm sure that his former high-pitched squeal has turned into a muffled bark that is about two octaves lower than it used to be. In fact, I know it has - it was painfully obvious on their 2007/2008 tour. It's probably even worse now.

I'm kinda in the same boat. Adele has a fantastic voice, truly, but I echo allmusic.com's sentiments in their review of For the Love of Strange Medicine: "it takes more than a superb voice to carry an album."

A great song and a great album have to have musicianship and writing on par with the voice in front of them, and that's why I'll never want to see her live.

On Billboard's album sales chart, Adele comes in at #1 this week with 241k copies sold.
Van Halen is at #2 with 187k.

Gets picked up by a label, a chubby girl of 18 with a Cockney accent who could write songs and had her own vision for her music. I love that she has a real interest in jazz, British soul, folk music, even country music and you hear all genres in her album on different songs. Her first album at 19 was good and had some really solid songs on it, but 21 really showed her maturity in songwriting and singing.
