Some of you are aware of the struggles my wife and I have had with our adopted daughter. Well, I was off sick from work yesterday since my lower back went out over the weekend and she was out of school due to it also being President's Day. Anyway, here's what I shared on Facebook...

Realized again yesterday what a great daughter I have...Here she has President's day off when most kids would either be outside goofing off or at least indoors playing video games all day long. I'm home with a bad back and, as soon as I came out of the bedroom in the morning (in pain from trying to get a shower and get dressed) and she asks me if I want her to get me something for breakfast, so she makes me some toast, peach tea, and gets me a banana. Meanwhile, she is doing dishes and laundry AT THE SAME TIME. Throughout the morning, she continues doing those things and also puts my socks on for me since I can't. She also gathered up the trash from the various trash cans throughout the house since the trash is being picked up tomorrow. All this WITHOUT ME TELLING HER TO DO ANY ONE OF THOSE THINGS! Despite all the problems we've had in the past, she's turning out to be a pretty good young lady. I'm so proud of her! Of course, she was grumpy this morning and nearly late for the bus, but I'll cut her some slack. :D

She also turns 14 this Friday. Not bad for a moody teenage girl.

That's awesome, and you should be proud! It's not very often you see this kind of thing anymore. She sounds like a good kid.

That is very cool. If this was my house, this first thing asked would be " What do you want?"

That's awesome!

Hold those boundaries, love 'em, and hang in there ... payoff may not be quick, but it's sweet when it does arrive.

Glad to hear Dave! After everything you've gone through, to see the payoff from you and your wife's strength and vigilance must be very rewarding! :)

Dave, when I read your posting about your daughter, it brought tears to my eyes! She is turning out to be a wonderful young lady. You and your wife must be very proud of her.

I have been having troubles with my teenager, and it has produced some gray hairs in my head, but patience, love, and lots of prayers will see you through the troubles.

Thanks for sharing! :D
