hello everyone. i wanted to let you all know that wyatt and i are surviving. we miss dean very much and some days are harder than others. please know that dean was on the mend. he did not take his life, he wanted to live and was making positive changes. he was a great father and gave everything to wyatt. i have much to say, but am not ready yet. the love and support here will be comforting to me as i begin to move forward. thank you for honoring dean and his memory, i truly appreciate it. i'll be back in a few days.

I am so glad to see you here. Please take care of yourself and that precious treasure of a boy Wyatt. I have no doubt that Dean is smiling down on you now.

I pray for comfort for you and Wyatt, Lula. It's nice to see you post and hope you keep posting because you're among friends even if a lot of us haven't met you in person.

I went through a lot of the same struggles Dean went through and we used to PM each other quite often about it because we were going through the same issues.I definitely knew how hard it was.I left here back in December to get help for my problem that i had because after many years i got to the point where i was too exhausted trying to fight it and i was on the verge of losing my family due to this addiction.After being gone all those months i was coming back a new person because many people knew i was fighting this battle.I was definitely looking forward to letting Deano know i had conquered this problem and he could too so i was definitely going to seek him out to let him know it could be done.I was very stunned and saddened when i looked up at the topics and noticed what had happened and Dean was gone.I was worried at first it may have been him taking his life or something but i felt better when i was told that he was on the mend like you said and he was actually fighting his problems and was doing very well and i am proud of him because he was on the road to doing better.He was definitely trying and doing very well.I am truly sorry bout Dean

May the road and path of healing be kind to you and Wyatt, Lula. Sympathies to you and your family. Still sad about the Big Man's passing. He will be missed and have a special place in all our memories and hearts.

still here. finding the days are not as dark. this past week i actually felt human again. loss can be so different i've learned. i have so much swimming around in my head, just can't seem to sort it all. wyatt is doing ok. thankfully he has some wonderful adults in school and in is after school program, which i received a grant for to cover cost.

that was the most stressful as dean always took care of wyatt while i worked. wyatt is a busy curious boy and requires more supervision than the average boy...so, a home daycare was not something i felt comfortable with. as an education specialist i'm not easy to please when it comes to care for my son. i was referred to a private place just around the corner from our apt and took wyatt to check it out. it was perfect, but super expensive. the board usually gives a 25% grant towards admission, but i asked for 100% at least till i figure out what i can actually afford to pay. in exchange i'll train some of the staff and run a short program over summer. that has been a gift and allowed me to work and figure out, what next...

so i'm here and grateful to have this community. at some point i'm going to ask those of you with pics of dean to send me copies or email jpegs for wyatt's memory box. one of my summer projects, with cheyanna's help will be to go through dean's belongings in the garage. i want to put enough together so wyatt will know his daddy. i gotta say, dean was an amazing father to wyatt. he truly devoted himself to raising wyatt and his absence is so obvious in that little boy's life. i'm trying, but a boy needs his father.

You did good! I was glad to read it. Nobody will ever replace Wyatt's father or your Dean. My sister is doing a great job of being the parent and you can do it too.

This sentiment simply wrenches my heart. I know from my interactions with Dean that he adored that little boy. I have zero doubt that you are going to do an amazing job raising that little boy and ensuring that he always knows how much his Daddy loved him. My boy will be 6 in October, and I never allow a day to pass without my son knowing that I love him more than anything, and how important it is to me that he ALWAYS knows this. It's moments like these that remind me why I make it such a priority to express the love I have for my children. I have no doubt that Wyatt knows his Daddy loved him, and my heart breaks for that little man. I know that you're in a very difficult situation (even having to try to explain to such a young child what happened to his Dad), but I know you'll get through this. We're all here if you need an ear to bend or just some friendly advice.
