Holy Cowabunga!

I'm gonna play my regular $3.00 on Friday Night, are you? What would you do with that much jack? I just read that in the state of Ohio, if you win this, after all taxes are paid the winner would get a whopping check for $265,000,000. How do you cash a check like that?

Via direct deposit..
Heading to town to get my tickets in a few...

If I won I wouldn't tell anyone and hire an attorney and financial planners before I claimed the prize. The last thing I would want is to have people jumping in front of my car claiming injury and trying to sue me for my fortune. In some states you can remain anonymous and that is the best option to protect you from the leeches sure to be looking for donations, frivilous lawsuits, etc.

Last night I had a ticket and will again on Friday. For a couple of bucks it's fun to dream for a few hours.

I agree 100%! Those and every estranged relative who now wants to be your best friend, lol.

Not to be a pointless thread derail-er, but the topic of this post reminded me of Tommy Boy. "Tommy just sold a Half..A..Million..BREAK-PAAAAAADS!"

Most lotteries do not allow you to be anonymous. That sucks. I would fucking leave the country and change my identity. I would give those closest to me a bit of something, with the understand that's it, no more.

the best you can do is form a trust (not a blind trust) then take the winnings into the trust...

I know the odds are extremely low, but remember that any time a winner won a big jackpot, they didnt pay more than a $1 for those winning numbers ;)
While you chances of hitting the jackpot are very low, theyre exactlt ZERO if you dont play at all ;)

Florida doesn't have mega millions....BUT Tennessee does.... and i happen to be vacationing here, so I will get maybe one ticket. I GUESS the ride back here would be worth it for a win. How does the tax thing work? Is it where you bought it? Or where you live? TN has no state tax, but then neither does FL, so I guess it wouldn't matter for me.

Tennessee: No State Tax on Lottery Prizes!

Your net per year for 26 years: $15,576,923

After 26 payments: $404,999,998

Your lump sum net payout option after Fed. Tax: $292,500,000
I MAYBE could live on that! Sounds like buying it here tonight is better than buying it in Georgia on our way back tomorrow, since they DO have state tax! Further from home, but I guess a plane ticket would be affordable.

If anyone here (hopefully me) wins - take the lump sum. There is no guarantee they will be able to continue paying out 20 years from now.

At 52 years old, there is no way I would gamble on being around over 20 years, as I'm sure if I won, I would probably live a life of excess everything. ;)
I can't believe there are some people, who, if they won this, would be broke and worse off in a number of years.

I'd go buy a bunch of fringe property out the direction the city is expected to grow. The guy that bought the property that Walmart now sits on for about 50 grand 10 years ago is probably a happy camper about now.

Unless it's Fact Finder. I would feel nothing but jealously, hatred and contempt. I would mortgage my house to pay someone to bring me his head....and his bank account details.
