This is why I hate people

My wife takes my 6 year old to an Easter egg hunt. My little one finds no eggs, but older kids are running around with 20+ in their baskets.

This is why I want to own an automatic high powered weapon and a license to kill.

Happy Easter.

Well it's good to know some things never change. Just the other night my husband told me about when he went to an Easter egg hunt when he was 6 years old about 50+ years ago and the exact same thing happened to him.

The last Easter egg hunt I went to was in college at Penn State. The RAs in my dorm building organized it and the eggs were filled with chocolate and condoms. Best Easter egg hunt ever.... :D

Yep, still personally traumatized from one of these experiences as a tot ... fortunately my guys had a herd of cousins so we could egg hunt with the extended family and let the little ones go first.

We always had Easter egg hunts at my grandmothers with my cousins, and I carried that tradition on in my own yard since my kids were little. Sadly this year mine are all too old, though the 12 year old MAY try. But I have a younger niece and nephew who I will set it up for tomorrow. One of the things we ALWAYS did, was gave the little ones a head start. They line up by age, and start one at a time spaced with time for a fair chance for all. How sad to let any kid leave an egg hunt with no eggs!

As much as I was a reluctant dad (search "AR" 2006/7 or so) I am a very defensive daddy.

Same thing happen to my kids last year i have a seven and six year old and i was ready to go Rambo on someone after my kids were upset because these way older kids old enough to be in high school were running around with dozens of eggs while my kids had none.Matter of fact this morning i am going to go hide some strictly for my kids to go hunt for so we don't have the mishap we had last year.

Good to know, because automatic weapons (on the home front) are for defense only. Wait until someone tries to snatch an egg out of your basket, then do everyone a favor and wipe out their entire seed from the earth. Should be a justifiable shoot.

Hunt at your own house. I really think they should have hunts with areas of same age levels. Big kids don't need to hunt with little ones, they have too much of an advantage. We used to hunt eggs with my cousins at Grandma's house. We have great memories...mostly of the year old egg we would find the next Easter.

Sometimes it is best just to do this with family and friends. People are too competitive these days and after I saw some over competitive parents on the news recently it is a wonder why anyone would sponsor such an event. People are getting too ME oriented.

Sorry your experience was not a good one, I still say they should have like ages only to hunt together.

I feel ya. I took my son to a hunt at my wife's grandmother's living facility. There was a woman there with her 5 year old girl who would fill her basket run back to mom and dump her eggs into a couple of Target bags she was carrying. I turned to my wife and said, "Seriously? Some people have no shame." Thankfully she was the only idiot there doing that. If you guessed mom was over 3 bills, you'd be right.

Embarrassing.

When my son filled his basket. I asked him to go help some of the younger kids find eggs since he was in the 0-5 group. That's how us greedy conservatives roll.

lol ...

Great parenting right there.

I'm pretty mouthy, though, rwf ...I would've said something to
to ms. freeloader and her recipient in training. It usually
does no good, but it makes me feel better.

That said ...what crazy folks allow 12 yo's to hunt w/children of 5 or 6?!
