I ve tried it and it works okay.Take an over the counter night sleep aid and drink 3 glasses of wine, you ll be out in about an hour and have a good buzz at the same time. Its not intended for people that want to quit.Maybe I will one day,but this works pretty good for me. Dont drink Friga wine, you ll have a whole different set of problems

When I was younger and going out most nights, I was often the driver.
And I used to drink Tonic water and tell myself it was gin and tonic or vodka and tonic.
And if I really did have gin or vodka when I wasn't driving, I put enough Tonic in it to fool myself that the Tonic on its own tasted the same.
After a while, I didn't want the taste of alcohol at all.
Could you apply some kind of mental trick like that to wean yourself off the booze?
Or am I being naive?

Just drink N/A beer. That's what I did when I was quitting.

Jonathan Cain has a wine brand? What is it?

Drink one glass of water after every beer, drinking the water out of the empty beer bottle. Kind of like smokers needing something between their fingers. The beer bottle is still in the hand, while cutting consumption by 50%.

I generally view heavy drinking as something fun to do for special occasions now--weddings, a football game at the stadium, catching up with an old friend who moved out of town, a birthday etc. I have a good time when the opportunity presents itself, but I don't miss blowing half of every Saturday and Sunday hung over.
I still love trying different microbrew beers, and I like red and white wine more and more as I get older. But I don't have a few beers on a regular night and average 2 benders a week like I did in my college/immediate post-college days.

That's also a good way to do it.

Taper off. It takes a few days after a bender. Drink half of what you did the day before each day until down to zero.
