Those are the finale shows, aren't they? Quite a huge T.V. audience.

Wonderful! I'm glad I got to see and hear him in concert with Journey and really enjoyed the Christmas special on TV some years back. Not too crazy about his hard rock as I think that he has a great voice for ballads.

I hate these fucking shows and the soccer moms who have made them popular. This has ruined music and more importantly has ended fun, drunken karaoke. All the DJ's think they are running talent shows now and let the same people up over and over again. More important than all that if you are a male and watch American Idol, Americas Got Talent, or Dancing With The Stars you are kidding yourself and should just come out of the closet already.

That said it's a great opportunity for Jeff.

I agree with all the shows you listed except AGT. Now that Howard is a judge I HAVE to see it :)

Well hopefully JSS gets to sing, and it's not just Lambert who will perform, since he is the AI alumni.

LOL, so I take it you didn't watch your idols 'Kiss' on Dancing With the Stars both nights this week? Kinda funny watching the pros trying to dance to Kiss performing Lick It Up. Or even funnier was Gladys Knight measuring Gene's tongue.

Yep, I think there is only a couple shows after that.

I shot this video around the office this afternoon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlzlFP-kQ2Q (thanks Rickster  ) I know there is some classic rock listening co-workers, a few like Queen music and were impressed. A few more butts in seats for the July show, LOL I'm my own damn street team. :P

I find it hilarious that Brian May RIPPED Journey for not keeping Soto, and declared that HE would hire him. But when push comes to shove, he selects Lambert for the real gig and slots Soto SECOND behind Martell, another YouTube bozo! What a fucking hypocrite.

He did hire him.

Here is an excerpt of Brian May's public comments in the wake of Tapegate, Soto's firing, and Arnel's hiring:

Brian May wrote:"Option 2: They go out on tour with a 'replacement' for the legendary singer - someone who looks and sounds like Steve Perry; in this case they find themselves in a stale situation, where they are stuck in the past. I was always against this in our case - I could not stand being a fossil, going out there and effectively saying, "We can't improve on what is past — we have nothing more to say".

..........

You know, for all the reasons above, it's understandable that JOURNEY might decide to make a U-turn. I just hope that they will be man enough to say so if this is the case, rather than hiding behind some kind of pretence that it was a mutual decision. That's an integrity thing, and a karma thing. You have to own yer own poo. And I hope they will see fit to recognise Jeff's lasting contribution to the family, and realise that he deserves to be treated with respect. And ... I desperately hope they don't go down that other road: JOURNEY is worth a whole lot more than Option 2."

So although Brian did "hire" JSS here, he did so while doing exactly what he derided Journey for several years ago: going on tour with a "replacement" for a legendary singer (Lambert) AND a "replacement for a legendary singer who looks and sounds like Freddie Mercury" (Martell). And in "hiring" Jeff, he has subjugated him behind (1) a complete freak and (2) an unabashed, look-alike, sound-alike, YouTube karaoke sensation.

So, it's hypocrisy in the primary sense in that he's hired a karaoke sound/look-alike guy, which is what he completely derided Journey for. It's also hypocrisy in another sense because although yes, he did hire Jeff, he has put primary emphasis on sounding and looking alike in true retread fashion.

Just pointing all this out. You probably know from my posts in the Journey forum that I am no fan of Arnel or the current line-up. So no agenda here, just calling 'em as I see 'em.

Does everyone here not watch Idol and why not? I never tune in until they are down to 10 or so but I enjoy seeing talent in the making. The contestants grow in leaps and bounds. I have to admire all the hard work hey put into it. The judges are ass holes but the voters put them in their place.

For those who don't follow AI, from what I understood, last night was a good reason for folks to never watch the show again.
A girl got voted off and the judges not only 'saved' her, they ran up on stage during her last performance, stopping her from singing and than admonished the voters for voting the wrong way. Randy Jackson basically said the girl was one of the best singers on Idol ever, pretty much shitting on the other six contestants at that moment.
Pretty pathetic and very much proving that the show does try to influence who is going to win despite it supposedly being up to the voters.

Apparently, there was one girl who the Judges having been trying to get voted off and the consensus is that it backfired last night with the favorite ending up on the bottom instead.

If the favorite gets voted off next week (no more save option) due to voter retaliation, I'd imagine it's going to be devastating for her, basically losing twice in two weeks.

What's with the derision for Marc Martel? (You Tube bozo, karaoke singer, etc. ). The guy has been singing and playing in his own band for a long time, released some records - their music is not my taste but they are very good:

He auditioned for the Queen Extravaganza because his wife or friend or someone encouraged him to. All the auditions (not just his) were posted on YT and that's how he became a 'You Tube sensation'. Give the guy a break - I say good for him for winning this contest and exposing people to his band and music.

Why should what happened want to make you not watch it again? It was great. The judges were really letting their positions go to their heads and America said, "Back Off." There are more dynamics here than just a big voice. Big voices are a dime a dozen. I thought that those two belonged in the bottom three anyway. Colton and Elise are uniquely entertaining.

Solid. Doesn't look and sound like a karaoke singer to me.

Kind of scary how he looks like Mercury.

All of this assumes that Martell will use his brush with fame to succeed later on his own music's merits. I doubt that will happen.

I don't really have a problem with Martell though. I'm just illustratively describing him to highlight May's hypocrisy.

Yeah, I remember that happened about a week before I was going out to California and I thought "What the fuck, Brian May?? Seriously?? THANKS DICK!" I know he was sticking up for his buddy Jeff, but this whole Marc Martell/Adam Lambert thing has left a real sour taste in my mouth. Honestly though, it's the music business, which is about the most fucked up business there is, so whaddya gonna do. Brian, Roger, Neal Schon...They can all do whatever and say whatever the fuck they want. It's their bands, their music.
