LONDON (AP) — Former Bee Gee Robin Gibb is gravely ill with pneumonia in a London hospital, British media reported Saturday.
The Sun newspaper reported that 62-year-old Gibb is in a coma, citing a family friend.
The newspaper and the Press Association news agency said family members including wife Dwina and brother Barry were at his bedside.
Gibb's publicist, Doug Wright, declined to comment, but Gibb's son has acknowledged that the 62-year-old musician is seriously ill in a hospital.
Gibb was hospitalized last year for stomach and colon problems and had intestinal surgery last month.
Gibb has not specified the exact nature of his illness — widely reported to be cancer — but told the BBC he had a growth on his colon that was removed.
He said earlier this year that he was making a good recovery, but was forced to miss the London premiere of his classical "Titanic Requiem" this week because of illness. His son Robin-John Gibb said the family was "praying for him and hoping he has a speedy recovery."
The Bee Gees — British-born, Australia-raised brothers Robin, Barry and Maurice Gibb — had a string of disco-era hits including "How Deep is Your Love" and "Stayin' Alive." Their soundtrack to the movie "Saturday Night Fever" was one of the best-selling albums of the 1970s.

You can say what you want, but I love me some BG's. They were way more than just a disco band. "Massachuseets", "Remember to love somebody", "Words", and "I started a joke" which Robin sang lead. Great harmonies from them and I hope he gets better. The Bee Gee's music will always be stayin alive for me. Thanks Barry, Maurice, Robin for ALL the great music and harmonies. You are giants in the music industry.

Hard to beat the big C. There was hope that Robin was on the mend but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.
Barry, the eldest seeing his three younger siblings go before him. Wow.

I just read that he has slipped into a coma & only has a few days left. I think tonight I'll put in "One night only" and remember them how they were.

I'm sad to see this.
I'll pray that he heals and is back to well health soonly.
This is one of my favorites from them.

Your kidding. :( I am so sorry to hear this. It was hard enough losing Andy. He was so young. I liked a great deal of their music...disco or not.

Been hearing about his decline for some time, sad.
Barry will be the only surviving BG/brother.
Their sound was a huge part of my youth.

Always inspiring to see someone fight back against cancer. But it sounds like he's far from out of the woods. Hope he can keep coming back. As others have noted, the Bee Gees were far more than cheesy disco that they are unfortunately known for. GREAT vocal group.

This may be sacrilegious to Beatles fans, but one of the first songs I was ever affected by as a kid was Robin's version of "Oh Darling" from the Sgt. Pepper movie. Love it to this day. I also had my first true make out session to their "How Deep is Your Love". I thought it was much deeper than it actual was. 8)

Sadly... we're gonna have to get used to a bunch of our idols of the 60's and 70's kicking the bucket over the next 10 years..... the excessive lifestyle back them.. combined with their age (most are in their 60's now) almost guarantees it...

I love this one. My favorite that Robin sang.

Words can not express how sad I am today. Robin was truly the singer of the songs and keeper of the melody that shaped my life and filled my heart with overflowing love. Forever and always Robin....

Robin's last musical contribution was for the Titanic Requiem 2012 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Don't Cry Alone is one of the three songs featured in The Titanic Requiem. The Titanic Requiem composed by Robin Gibb and his son R.J Gibb.

I actually think he died in 1975. They've just been trotting out his mumified body around all these years sort of like an extended "Weekend At Bernies"!
