Hey dude...since Rush is going to be the next KILLER album release...could you maybe move that one up a few notches?

Edit: decided to add a poll. ;-)

Btw...I wasn't talkin' to the top or anything. I meant VH, Kiss, then Rush, or something like that

Yeah, because those are more active boards than Rush's is. Not to mention the fact that along with Journey and Foreigner, Survivor are the best definition of Melodic Rock. Whereas Rush are only borderline Melodic Rock, IMO.

No worries. The last time I checked, it was still WAY down there on the list.

Which, honestly, for me, is wrong. I love Rush.

Umm...YES!!! I'd start with Snakes and Arrows, and work your way back. Come to think of it...if you have spotify...you can do it that way.

Gotta disagree with you Liam, if you're going to direct someone to Rush, run the board, start at the beginning and follow the amazing ride!!

You can do that too, of course, but my thinking was it's easier to get used to Geddy's voice if ya go backward. I dunno...I'm not a newbie.

I don't think newest OR oldest is the way to go. Rush is too derivative of Zeppelin and Sabbath (they were teens when they wrote those songs!), and Snakes & Arrows, while it has some dynamite stuff, it also has songs that won't resonate with a noob.

The band's chief classic remains Moving Pictures, and while I listen to Signals and Grace Under Pressure more often, MP is still the main indicator of whether somebody will gravitate towards their sound...or not.

Start from the beginning, stop after listening to Signals, then start listening again with Counterparts then go back and listen to their music from 84-93.

I like MP as a starting point because if he wants to hear more keys, he can continue forward in the discog. If he wants to hear more hard rock, he can go back to Permanent Waves or jump up to Counterparts.

I reckon Signals and Grace Under Pressure would go over well because of the tight arrangements, snazzy basslines and prevalent synth lines. And all the songs fukn rock!

Fact Finder wrote:If you REALLY want to understand, and/or learn about RUSH, just go get their video "Beyond the Lighted Stage." After watchng that, all will be revealed of the marvel that is RUSH. Then you can pick any album and understand what was happening. I am one of RUSH's biggest fans and I've watched that documentary 25 times already. It's amazing and very well done, like most thing RUSH.

The 3 R's......Rush, Rush(Limbaugh)and Rand.

You can get MOST of it on youtube...all but the last damn part,But it'll tide you over. And DEFINITELY a MUST buy.

Completely slipped my mind...thanks Fact.
