From the Station Night Club fire to this, what a tragic end to what I personally consider to be a great underated band. I always loved the sound of Jack Russel's voice. If this is true, the ensuing years since that horrible night must have really taken their toll.

Granted I realize too that the Station fire was in 2003. Still sad all around...

The lawsuit, obtained by Blabbermouth.net, states, "By 2000, Russell's voice had deteriorated. Unable to perform adequately for an upcoming European tour, Russell suggested that the band play to pre-recorded music and lip sync entire concerts... The first show of Russell's lip syncing tour was in Spain. By the third song, the audience realized the band was not playing live and began heckling the band..."

I read that too. I don't know why they didn't go the Journey route and have the instruments live. But again, anything you read about a band or anything a musician says take with a grain of salt. :?

Audio is horrendous but just watch the first few minutes and wait for it.

I saw the next date after this, in Dallas. Luckily he didn't fall, but did much of the show sitting in a chair. Have a couple of good videos on my YouTube channel. Jack sang live but sounded weak, and was a bit flat in the higher notes. Still, the band was awesome, and I can't imagine GW without Russell. I guess we'll see at M3.

If he was the founder of the band, I don't see how they can say he can't legally use that name. I hate that about the drugs though. If it is true, I hope he gets clean.

See Dennis DeYoung.

Also John Payne legally held the rights to the name "Asia" and an agreement had to be reached for the 4 original members to use it in the last few years.
